ecu question
hey ht quick question, i have a b17 running in my 90 hf now, its running off a chipped p28 and is tuned by the kid i got it off of but runs really lean (according to my a/f gauge) and can def feel some detination or misfire in higher rpms, so wondering if a obd1 b16 ecu (stock) will run my car safely,my engines all stock except was told has type r cams which i doubt. any help would be appreciated, thanks
Like 90 crx hf? I have the same problem. I have a b16a5 or a2 from a 99 si. It wont pass smog. It runs super lean. I have a usdm p30 in it. It has heads,msdw/ coil, aem short ram intake, cat-back exhaust system. Del sol B16 distributor, O2s, But 99 si fuel injector. I'm either guessing a small fuel pump volume problem( What my smog guy is thinking) or a injector issue. IDK. Or a base map off???? Tzhe preformance parts?
Are you sure the p28 is chipped? have you looked inside the case to verify that it is? it could just be a stock p28, which would be bad.
If it IS chipped, then you can just grab the b17 basemap, copy the fuel and ignition tables, overwrite the p28 tables with those new tables using crome, burn a new chip and you are in business with a "stock" style tune. You could certainly also pay someone for a chip that is already set up in that way as well, and just swap the chip in.
otherwise, it sounds like it either is running a stock p28 map, or the kid "tuning" it has no idea what he is doing. Are you running a wideband with that A/f guage?
