Alright guys I need some help. From the way it looks my ed hatch has never been worked on (suspension wise) which is good....kinda. The main problem is everything is rusted to all hell. First i had to take a sledge hammer to the steelies to get them off, now i cant get the axle nuts off. My impact gun wont even get them to budge and yes i peeled back the little flange that bends in.

 

2 words for u my friend. Pb Blaster.

 

I've always used socket breaker bar with a pipe slipped over it to get that torque. Also had someone step on brakes due to being in a gravel driveway.

 

i say pop out the center cap, put the steelies back on and drop it in the ground. get a 3/4 or 1" breaker bar and 32mm socket, it will come off easier than you think

 

What impact are you using and what is your psi set at? Either way soak it for a day or two every now and then with some PB blast let it soak and do it for several days, it will honestly do wonders.

 

if you had that car on the ground with center caps removed, i'd have both those nuts off in less than 5 mins

 

Like previously said, put the steelies back on with the center caps off and insert a breaker bar with a impact socket.

Don't forget to prop the breaker bar up on something to keep it form stripping the nut.

 

Yeah, take off the cap, put the wheel back on then use a breaker bar while it is on the ground. That's how I used to do it. I bought this cheapy impact from Harbor Freight that has impressed me, it's compact, lightweight, and strong. It will spin off the nut while it is still staked to the axle.

 

if all else fails use a dremal cut off, or get a "NUT SPLITTER" from like harbor frieght

 

this isnt the first time ive done this, it just seems to be this car thats giving me the most hassle. Ive already broken 3 3/4 inch breaker bars in the process. I was able to get the passenger side one off with a impact gun but the driver side just wont budge. ill try the PB blaster trick and see if that works, if that doesnt do the job im just gonna cut it off.

 

PB Blaster works miracles.

 

Let the PB blast soad for a couple days with several applications, don't just spray it wait 45 seconds and then try to break it. Nothing will change. Just throwin this out there cause thats how most people think it works.

 

Blast it with fire. Small propane torch for like 20 bucks works wonders

 

had the same problem heated the nut and it came right off

 

I chiseled mine off.

 

Drive it to a shop, have them zip it off and zip it on with an air gun. After its been off once it'll be easier to take off with a breaker bar along with some PB blaster.

 

As previously stated; PB blaster + tapping it with a hammer. If that fails, then use heat

 

pb blaster period.

 

Like others have said, let the car do the work for you. put the breaker on and roll the car.
