StickerZ YO!
From rAce to rIce.
went decal happy this past weekend at the track. since i got laid off, was thinking this may be my last race for the season and wanted to get a decent picture in. so i got all the stickers ive been collecting and tossed in a box and slapped em on irregardless if i really wanted to promote the product. even got a skunk2 decal on, and you know how much i love skunk. plus my sponsor wanted a picture of the car and i wanted to look somewhat like a racecar. also got another sponsorship from the RIDE stickers, a non profit program targeting asian youths in an anti smoking campaign. i think my sponsor wants to make me their poster boy. pics suck cuz they are still from my camcorder i shot on my driveway today because im getting impatient with my friend sending me the real pics from his digital camera.

same car, but that was BEFORE the rIce and was using big *** 4' vinyl tape for my numbers before i got 16 permanently. im redoing my numbers too with a black on white so timing and scoring doesnt bitch at me for not making it contrast enough (my fault).
my car used to look so nice...

The downside to carrying a sticker that you don't get $$ or in-kind support for is that it diminishes the value for the folks who are giving you something. If you want to go "racey" (not "ricey") see if you can find a sign shop in your area that will share its sticky vinyl scraps with you, or sell you a couple of yards of stock. Once you learn a couple of tricks (e.g., wet application, use of a carrier sheet) hand-cut graphics are really pretty easy. You could do something zoomy that doesn't give a plug to someone who isn't helping you out, and focus more attention on the folks who are.

step ahead of you mr. k. i've got some ideas already on making my own graphic design using sheets of vinyl and hand cutting it, instead of painting my car. its not the same flames or paint splatter on the side design either. but, for now, i actually think the extra decals help represent the main sponsors to represent my car as a valid racecar.
It's only too many if they aren't generating any fundage for the program. All of the sponsor and number graphics on this ride (c1985) were all hand cut...

PS - not me in the picture. I drove it two years later as an IT car. I also don't want to hear about it if you do the math and figure out how old you were in 1985.
