Im looking to start building on my b18b1
to get it race ready for import showdown
I already have headers, exhaust, intake
what is next? my goal is to get over 160+

It's hard to get there with the ls sadly. Don't quote me on that though I'm not an expert but it's just been said to be a waste of time due to the restrictive flow characteristics of the non-vtec head. There is a big port (but rare) B20 head that would be better to use than the b18 head if you want to stay non vtec.

along with head work and tuning will go a long way.
Also improving the parts you have currently (if you can) may help as well, what kind of header, exhaust, and intake do you have?

If you looking for cheap stuff a hondata intake gasket spacer will give you some numbers
Arp rod bolts so u can rev it a bit more with a good tune
Seen b20 cams used before they work pretty well on a stock ls

no point reving it higher .... ls dont make power that high
stock rod bolts can handle 8k fine. i did it for a year with a turbo. this is with me riding hte rev limiter on 1st and 2nd to get traction.

B16 trannys are nice on a stock ls
Lsd quaife is good to get too
Whether he sticks with the LS head and has it ported and built, or switches to lsv. Your gonna want to see higher rpms and arps are the first step with a LS block

You'll barely notice the gain and may regret spending your hard earned money. It's a lot of work but maybe you should look into an LS/VTEC conversion, but then you won't pass smog. My friend would only build up LS motors if the block was sleeved. Ebay turbo kits are hit or miss.
I say go boost. I have me a mildly built LS, and its getting me nowhere fast. (Get it?)

youll get 150 to 160whp
160+ whp will need some more extensive work but possible with some sick *** tuner and swap pistons to raise compression.
If you want to go higher than that and stay N/A. Youll need a built Vtec engine or lots of money.

Just get a vtec head with toda killer cams, you can keep the name, still no vtak!
OP you want a diffrent tranny over all, that thing is gonna be a slug with the LS trans.
I've had a LS trans since I went b series and it BLOWS. Only reason I kept mine is its got 60k with papers on it with only a 85yr old lady that used it before me
