Default CRX 1.5L to B18C Type R Conversion

Hey!
I bought an 1991 CRX this spring ae decided to continue nd spent all summer working on it to get it insurable and running/looking nice. The car is great shape and I've decided to put more of my time and money into it. It's my first project car but I have most of the tools and mechanical aptitude to get pretty much anything done. I'm completely hooked on this car and stoked on the Honda tuner community.

I'm doing an engine swap on my crx this winter. I've been recommended an H22 or a B18C Type R. I realize that the H22 would be more work but I do have time (and a spare crx I can drive in the meantime). I haven't received any prices on an H22 but am wondering what I can expect. For the B18 I'd pay $3600CAD for everything. Is that decent, sounds like it.

What kind of major trouble can I expect with either of these engine swaps? Are there any recommendable alternatives? I'd like to get minimum 300HP out of it (to start with). This will be a daily driver but only in the summer.

Thanks for any input y'all

^ Agreed, 300whp from an all motor daily is kinda.... too much! lol, unlesss you just have money to blow! Type r on boost is a good power getter but id look around your area for a gsr swap for sale and build it. Wouldnt drop the cash on a type r just to tear it down and throw race parts in it! lol, Dont get me wrong 300 whp all motor isnt impossible, just not highly recommended for a daily.

Go for a boosted LS with a GSR tranny call it a day. If you blow the LS at least it's cheap

300HP All motor on the street would be a miracle. You would have to run such a hot cam that the thing would barely idle and it would make all it's power up top.

I agree, buy a dirt cheap LS motor. Sleeve the bottom end and refresh the whole long block, make sure you have a good fuel pump and supply in general - turbo it and you are done. You could still do all the and stay under 3600 anyway.

Depending on engine choice and mounts, you need a USDM SiR style hood to clear the valve cover.

I have a B16B swapped in my '91 Si, and most difficult part was sourcing everything.

There are plenty of companies out there that make a B-swap a bolt in affair.

with the H22 you might have axle problames becuse the motor is so heavy only good for drag strip.
i would go with the B18c1 gsr or B18c5 ITR Would be best
The whole swap is pretty simple to do alot is plug and play check out hybrid racing.com
and innovative mounts.com and rywire.com for parts
