pulse welding
pulse has its purpose when used on very thin material to limit heat input. It can actually help get proper penetration without burn through in situations like that. People often misuse it in order to get the stack of dimes look, rather than manually operate the pedal. Not saying its always bad just that most of the time its not needed.
Or follow the up and down sound of the machine as it's pulsing and dip as it's about to come up.
