Default 94 civic overheating issue

I have a 94 ex with a jdm d15b swap in it. A couple weeks ago, i was driving through town and stopped. when i stopped the overflow tank was boiling but the engine temp was normal. i let it cool, put more coolant in it cause radiator was dry, then later let the car sit at idle and run and it didnt overheat at all and was good for a lil over a week. then i was on interstate going about 80 the whole way for 50 miles, and when i got off, it was boiling again and then engine temp was still at normal temp! i found out the switch that turns the fan on wasnt working properly so i fixed it and havent been on a long trip again yet, but does anyone have a clue as to what this problem is? there are no leaks or weird smells or anything. it jus randomly started happening. any help/suggestions would help, thanks.

Yea you might want to do drain/refill and get 50/50 in there

well i also haven't taken it on a long trip either. so it kinda hard to tell right now. but the water thing makes sense. i accidentally loosened a drain plug for the block a few weeks ago cause i wasnt sure what it went too cause it didnt look like a drain plug to me! LMAO. Terrible idea! so i retightened it and then put water back in it where i had lost coolant. then it overheated, then i put even more water in it, then it overheated again and i put 50/50 in it instead. i jus didnt think about the too much water thing for some reason. lol
