I am 17 and the current owner of a 97 dodge avenger es that is red. My insurance now is $325 for six months (liability only). I am interested in purchasing an integra and i have a few questions about insurance first. My assumptions: the older the year, the cheaper the rate. a 4 door would be cheaper than a 2 door, and a gsr would be much more expensive than an ls. Does that all sound correct? and how do you guys think the rates would compair to my current car? thanks in advance

 

There are a ton of variables that determine your premiums such as the city limits you live in, whether the car is garaged and is equipped with a security system, your driving history, your occupation/major in school, the rate of which the vehicle in general is reported stolen(see top 10 stolen cars, you'll notice the 1994 integra is on the list), etc..

At your age, depending on where you live and if you're reporting yourself as a good student to the insurance company, I'm willing to bet that you're looking at a pretty expensive premium for an integra, well over $325. Maybe around 500-600 for 6 months for liability.

To give you an example of how all these factors affect your premium, I'm a male in my late 20s with a squeeky clean driving record and no accidents since 2001. I live in a low crime city. I drive a 1994 Integra RS. My discounts include having an alarm system, garaged car, good driver, driver over 25 years old, and multiple car discounts. This car, along with my 2003 Subaru Legacy puts me at 700 dollars for 12 months for liability coverage with uninsured motorist.

If you're living in Brooklyn, NY on the virge of having your license suspended with too many speeding tickets and had been in a few fender benders, expect to pay an arm and a leg for a 1994 Acura Integra.

Edit: Also, if you've been on the same insurance carrier for an extended period of time, your premium will go down as a result. I've been with my insurance company for about 3 years.

 

The only way to get anything close to a correct answer is to call your insurance and ask how much it would be for you, with your specific conditions, and with your choice in policy coverage.

you'd probably also be better off w/ a LS. I have ussa 26 and have a clean dr. record and I pay like 350 for 6 months..can't remember whats all on my insurance but it's pretty good for me

 

I'm 30 and mine is $318 per six months. I'd expect to pay a little more than that at 17. I'm fully covered, but that was only around $30 extra over basic coverage.

Your really going to have to call to get a quote. I think at your age the best bet is to tag onto your parents policy, if that is an option.

I am through progressive. THey have the shop and compare prices with other companies. Call your agent, and get a quote...I am 24, live in a place where crime is almost next to none...with my 08 ex, and my 95 ls, I pay 136 monthly. Civic is full coverage 500 deductible comp(0 deductible glass) and colision. I think its okay.

 

16 years old. 1998 Gsr 2 door. State farm. Good student discount.(haha) $529 every 6 months for liability.

 

Posting a bunch of rates other people get isn't going to help, because he doesn't live where someone else does, isn't necessarily the same age with the same driving history, etc.
