Default Alternator kills engine.

My 91 integra gs has a gremlin ! After changing timing and alternator belts car will hardly idle with alternator connected but runs well without it. I had the alternator bench tested and it functions properly. any ideas ?

Thank you, 91-Ac-attack

Thanks for the input so far, I've been trying to sort out this problem in my ac and I'm having internet problems now too; its just been that kind of week. anyway I'm banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out, it sure doesn't seem to be anything obvious. The weird thing is that the car runs well enough to start fixing all of the usual suspects when the alternator p-4 plug is not plugged in, however, when it is plugged in the motor stalls and there is zero throttle response, it starts, runs rough then usually dies. I was thinking it has something to do with the fr link to the ecm, I've tried two different alternators with the same effect. What really has me stumped is why would I loose throttle response with the alternator hooked up and get it back when its not?
any help would be greatly appreciated
