Default As long as my tranny is out, general maintenance?

I'm dropping the transmission on my Integra to investigate a possible bad throwout bearing. The car has 54K miles on it. Any general maintenence that would be recommended as long as I have it out? I'm probably going to replace the clutch, possibly the flywheel as well. How about seals, synchros, other bearings? Is it a good idea to clean everything with carb cleaner or whatever?

If I had $800 burning a hole in my pocket I would love to drop a LSD in there, althoough I'm not sure I want to get kicked out of STS for autocrossing...

You might consider replacing the master cylinder and slave cylinder. They're probably working fine at 54K miles, but now would be the time to replace them. Clean the flywheel with brake cleaner, that's about it.

theres no reason to replace the master and slave cyclender. Even if it went bad and you wanted to replace it, its just 2 bolts that hold it on the trans and so its no big deal even when the trans is in the car. Do any gears grind? if not theres no reason to open the trany and replace parts. Is there oil leaking from a seal? if not, same goes for that.

Especially since I tore one of them

Edit: I was thinking of driveshaft seals, don't ask me why

I certainly wouldn't waste time & money replacing a working slave cylinder.

New clutch kit...ALL clutch parts. Get one with alignment tool. I'd get one with slightly more than stock grabbing power. I like the Exedy chromoly/full face organic race clutch combo. Great deal on it at:

Replace the oil seals too. If you can spring for the LSD then go for it. That's a great mod.

I'd second that. Because it would suck to have to drop the tranny to replace a $10 seal.

No reason to touch the slave cylinder if it's working fine. It's easily accessible w/out dropping the tranny.

Nice idea, but I'm not planning any engine mods that would require me to get an aftermarket clutch. A lighter flywheel might be nice though
