After three years of waiting, plotting, scheming, saving, losing, and frustrating, I finally took the plunge and purchased a bike. Well, turns out it was actually kind of a 2-for-1 deal, but one of them needs a bit of work to get up and running.
They are a pair of Yamaha TW200s, '87 and '88, and cost me $900 for both. The '87 is in great shape, runs and rides very well, and is mirrors and one turn-signal away from being street legal. The '88 needs...a lot more, and is untitle-able. Whatever, they'll be a blast, and will be a great way for my girl to learn how to ride.

Went for a short ride yesterday and...ran out of gas
That little 1.3 gallon tank is TINY. After screwing with it for 5 minutes trying to figure out why it wouldn't start up again, I flipped the petcock to reserve (I could see gas in the tank, so didn't think that was it), and "BWAAAH!" fired right up. Made it to the gas station and put in exactly 1.3 gallons
Went for a second ride a few hours later, and apparently my taillight is super small and not very bright and the headlight "path" can't be seen from behind. I was also wearing a black jacket, and was basically invisible (had my parents follow me to dinner to check speedometer accuracy). So, that's something that'll have to be dealt with.
Really a lot of fun so far though!

Yep, that's where I was introduced to them! Took the IL MSF, really liked it (as did the instructors) and thought I wouldn't mind owning one down the line.
P.S. MSF in IL is a friggin' STEAL. Apparently the same course that costs $20 in IL is like $450 in MD.

I've only heard cool things about those bikes. They seem like a lot of fun.
Some guy in CA transformed one into a motard and he rents it for the DMV motorcycle test. He can grind hard parts of the bike lol

I actually scraped the left peg the other day... Kinda surprised me, as I didn't feel like I was leaning the bike way over, and I certainly wasn't going fast
As for fun, it sure is! Looking forward to hooliganism when I get a few more things (like that last turn signal...).
