The Y1 uses a viscous type LSD with the ring gear as an integral part. The matching countershaft needs to be used with it and will not fit in the YS1 due to the different splines.

Yeah. The differential housing itself can fit, but due to the need for the 15-bolt ring gear, the matching countershaft isn't going to work with the 92+ gears.

Thanks for the speedy reply guys. Is it safe to say than, that both y1, and ys1 trannys are not compatible with any parts between each of them. I guess I ll have to try to sell one of them seeing as i have a one of each in cable version, and i wanted to mix the 2 to make one good one!!

They aren't compatible with each other, the YS1 is the better tranny (basically a hydro tranny in a cable case)

Is it possible for a y1 diff to have the 4.4 final drive? i just did the calculations between the 2 gears, and those are the results. I always thought the final for a y1 was 4.2. There are only 10 bolts on the diff carrier, so im pretty sure its a y1 diff. Also,do ys1 cable and B16A hydro tranny parts mix and match?? My buddy has the hydro, so, if possible, i may take his tranny, and make one good ys1. Thanks again guys. Can i please get some help with this ??
