i didnt run a knock sensor because the y7 block didnt have one i ordered one and its in the mail but yes its was to TDC and it runs good just needs the timing adjusted i think but thats what im asking is if the knock sensor effects the timing in any why like if i were to get it would my car get any faster in 2ed gear ?

What do you think the knock sensor is for? To detect knock, right? After it sees knock, what does it do to correct it? It removes timing until the knock goes away or it reaches the limit of what it can pull. So YES, it effects timing. Will having one missing and a CEL on effect timing enough to make the car not pull a hill in second? Highly doubt it. I can pull hills in 5th in my stock EX. I think you have the timing off a tooth, perhaps more. What head did you put on the car? Y8 or Z6?

Did you ever resolve this ? I did my water pump and timing belt and distributor all brand new and replaced and my car stutters on first gear and second gear. WTF ?!
