08 S2k Purchase, What to look for?
I'm buying an 08 S2k with 16,xxx miles on it for $22k. It's arriving Monday and I have a chance to look it over before I give the final go ahead.
The carfax is clean, but I want to make sure I give it a thourogh checkover. Besides the things below, what else do you suggest I look over.
Note: I've owned an 02 S2k for a short period of time, and I'm a gearhead, so don't be afraid to get technical
* Paint condition/cracks etc.
* leather condition
* Top up condition (including around supports), top motor condition.
* Check oil for burning & belts/hoses for wear
* Make sure idle and gears are smooth
Anything else? And thanks ^_^

Check the clutch fluid condition and insure the rear end and tranny have clean lube and the proper lube.Unless there is specific record of this just intend on doing it yourself after you feel the ride out.
I always like to bend down and inspect the condition of the front spoiler as well. Give the condenser coil uo front a looksee as well.The grill is wide open for big bug and rock hits. I always install an aluminum piece of rain gutter leaf guard mesh behind the plastic grill neatly with tie wraps. Cost like 3 bucks from Home Depot.Looks good too.
Also might want to see if the tires are a matched set with decent tread life left.
Closely inspect the condition of rims and insure neither looks to have taken a hard curb job.
Oh and if it has the original windshield ..expect some nicks and pits.Probably not too bad on that one though with the low miles.
Car sounds to be a decent deal for the money.

Thanks! From what I've seen of the images, carfax and notes, it's had only one owner and was barely driven. It looks to be in pretty perfect condition and I've been promised that if anything is wrong with it, it'll be fixed for free. Plus it's a Certified Honda so it even has a few years of warranty on it. I'm just going to be happy to be back in an S2k after years of driving a Yaris

From: TRILLINOIS....WAY downtown, jerky.
As long as the carfox is clean on an 08 with 22k miles...I don't think you have much to worry about. I usually change out the fluids on any car I buy just because you never really know. Plus it's hella cheap. New oil, new trans fluid, new diff fluid BAM.
Listen for obvious noises or signs of something that might be broken....besides that, you really don't have to look out for much. That's the refreshing thing about Hondas.

But yes I understand what you mean. I have a huge checklist I'm bringing with me to give it a once over. It still has a bumper-to-bumper warranty, so it wouldn't be too bad if I missed something, but I'd rather not be at the dealer if I can avoid it.
It rides a lot smoother than the AP1, while still having a nice stiff suspension. I'm probably going to keep it stock for quite a while. When I decided to buy a new car, I figured I'd get the one I really wanted so I wouldn't feel the need to buy a bunch of parts. The S2k is perfect so far and haven't wanted to change anything yet (besides figuring out how to hook up my iPod)....or maybe a navigation
