Default water pump question

95 accord ex 2.2 , I am wondering if there is a way of checking if the water pump is working correctly before I just buy another one without needing to. I am having to refill the radiator about once a day. I noticed a leak from the belt area which leads me to believe it is either a water pump or gasket issue. I would much rather it be the gasket since it is cheaper and I just put in too much money into the car this past 2 weeks. also what other causes could give me these symptoms. although the bits of coolant drops from that side kind of already give it away.

yeah she over heated today and there is a little bit of a residue under the cap. also when I shut the engine off you can hear like a slurp like when you run out of a drink with ice and you slurp with a straw. when i check the side container the sucking is coming from there, from the hose in it going to the radiator cap.

it isnt the head gasket. just did a full upper gasket replacement. head and all. No oil leaks timing is perfect dead on no miss fires or anything just a coolant leak form the pulley side which is where the water pump is. thats why I wanted to know a way to check if the pump is damaged before replacing it for no reason.

Im guessign the water pump is the culprit then. the engine is running beautifully right now and one of my boys just told me it cannot be the head gasket. because of its compression right now. it is exactly where it is suppose to be. thx though.

no my retarded a** never saw the in the area but figured it was just coolant that ran from the thermostat housing area during the pull out of the engine bay. come to see its been there for a week now and I havent touched any hoses or anything. no major spray leakage just drops here and there but give it a day and it will consume the entire supply. unfortunetly since my wifes car is down my car is the only one to go back and forth to work and school. so I am scewed. now I am looking at a 3 hour roughly job to replace the pump.
