Improve my audio system
I'm a Civic Type R user and i would like to get some feedback on how to improve my audio system because im one of those persons that like to listen music with the best sound quality possible.
BTW my audio system is the one that came with the car i haven't change anything yet.

don't they have car audio at the BuyMore, Chuck?? just kidding man, love that show.
start by telling us a little about what you're looking for and your aprox budget. are you looking for a fully amped setup, or just replace the speakers. what year is your car? what other features are you looking for??

if you are looking for the best sound quality, then you will need some amplifiers, replace the door speakers and add a small subwoofer, along with a head unit upgrade.

No, seriously... Adding an amp and subs makes a huge difference to someone that doesn't have much experience with aftermarket audio. Is the Alpine amp a 4-channel? I mean, it would def be an improvement over stock stereo components to the majority of ppl...
My car is a third generation Type R, from 2008.
When talking about budgets i can say that i think i got 1k ready for an audio system, do you think is enough for a good system?.
Also say that i know zero about mechanics, terms, etc. if you give suggestions, names, etc. that's what i will say to the mechanic

How much do you care about losing space and extra weight?
This is pretty nice for 1k

front speakers, JL are nice

if you get a nice 4 channel amp a lot of times you can use channel 1 and 2 for the front speakers and bridge 3 and 4 together to power a sub.
i love Rockford Fosgate amps.

as for the sub i suggest DC Audio, a level 2 8" sub will be great for a nice little stereo, you will need to call or email for prices.

chuck, it doesn't say where you are located.
being that it's a 2008, are you happy with the functionality of your factory head unit? if you only want better sound you could integrate with the factory head unit and spend a little more on amps and speakers. also...you said 08 CTR?? so is it the 3-door hatch?? or the Sedan?

, so i will only go for better sound quality.Perhaps for achieving this, will need a better head unit for more bass, treble, EQ, and other sound modifications options?

Keep your factory stereo and transform your sound
Is your car's "premium factory sound system" pumping out less-than-premium sound? The JBL MS-8 System Integration Digital Processor is a powerful tool for improving the sound in your vehicle, especially if you want to keep your factory stereo or enhance a premium factory system with multiple sets of speakers.

You can use the MS-8 to improve the sound while keeping your dash pristine.
What is it for?
Imagine hearing every note of your favorite music as if you were sitting inside a concert hall. The MS-8 transforms your car stereo setup into an exquisitely balanced, full-bodied audio system, perfectly tuned for every seat in your car. And it's not just for improving your factory stereo's sound — it'll make an aftermarket system sound better, too.
Set it up, let it do its thing

JBL takes the guesswork out of system calibration. Using a clever headset microphone that takes your ear positions into account, the MS-8 equalizes and time-corrects your audio output automatically so the sound from all speakers reaches your ears at the same time. You'll hear the entire spectrum of your music evenly, with no annoying peaks or dead spots in frequency response.

The included LCD display puts system adjustments at your fingertips.
Powerful equalizer
Once your system's calibrated, the MS-8 features a 31-band equalizer for tweakers who appreciate manual control over the overall tone of the music. You can store up to five favorite EQ curves to optimize the sound for different sources or styles of music. Mount the included LCD display in a convenient place so you can keep your eye on your settings.

Build your system
The MS-8 can drive up to eight speakers with its built-in amp, and it uses advanced Logic 7 circuitry to transform your 2-channel stereo into a realistic 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound experience for home theater sound on the road. You'll also find 8 preamp outputs to accommodate just about any amplified system imaginable. An auxiliary input lets you plug in your portable music player while cruising.

All you need.
This will make the stock system sound 1000000000x better
I put this in my mothers 02 accord and it came out sounding so good, i didn't have to change the stock paper speakers in the door.
Only thing i did was sound deaden the doors and a couple troubled spots, and added a single 8 to fill in the low end.
The unit is even better if you decide to add better speakers and amps

If you want to take it a little farther
these will fit (I think they will, you just need to fab up a baffle and seal things up)
https://www.madisound.com/store/prod...oducts_id=8614
$61.25 x 2 $122.50
These should do in the A-pillar, might need to fab up some basic fiberglass pillars but maybe not. Certainly easy enough:
https://www.madisound.com/store/prod...oducts_id=8664
$47.15 x 2 = $94.30
So speaker subtotal $216.80.
And then I would find a high performance 4ch
Either of these would do
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+ONX4.125.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+RUB4.600.html
Now you can budget some deadener, some good wiring kit and distribution.

the MS-8 would totally blow your budget out of the water.
i would look into the audio control LC2i for audio integration. not out yet, was just announced at MERA Knowledgefest
maybe an arc xxd-4080 4 channel - fronts to fronts, rears bridged to sub
Hybrid Imagine 6.5" components, can be either separated or coax mounted
stock or no rears
arc 10" sub.
from an authorized dealer, the amp speakers and sub will run you $770. the LC2i should be priced around $100 when it's released. that puts you at $870. allow for box, wiring, and sound deadening, you'll be slightly over your $1000 budget.
this is a simple setup that will provide great results. i've heard it in a few different vehicles with slight changes (an 8" instead of the 10", 2x 8" instead of the 10", a lesser 12"), and all had great results factoring in the budget.

I know this is not the place but since this is already a started thread, i would like to ask why is there no offtopic sub-forum for us to chat about anything not related to honda
if you want something to sound good. keep it simple. also, quality of the install is very important to the final result. decent wires and connections are a must. i have 1 pair of image dynamics 6.5" ctx components, i 12" image dynamics idq sub and a RF 800a4 running off an alpine 9853. all in an ef hatch. it buries fools and their kickers or sony explods in spl and sq. your soundstage is supposed to come from the front. this means you need speakers up there that make midbass. it also means you need power. 1k is very do-able for something to sound good.
if i had 1k to spend, and this is only an opinion. heres how id do it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/i2300-Amplifier-...b#ht_567wt_690
x2 on the amp
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BRAND...o#ht_974wt_812
this would leave you around 150 to buy mdf, screws, subfloor adhesive (PL), power/speaker/rca wires, and a mounting kit.
if all was installed well, you be hard pressed to get better for 1k, short of better used equipment for cheap.
