new car, no 5th gear and wont stay running when warm
ey guys, in a RUSH, im late for work!
anywayyy, just picked up a "1989 accord" couldnt find the appropriate forum quick enough so im posting here..
starts up a little rough, idles fun until it gets warm (or until driven) then it wont idle it'll just stall unless i give it gas steadily, idle control or anything?
also, no fifth gear, it shifts into 5th, but when given gas it has no motivation to go.. was told the syncros could be shot
thanks in advanced!!

DX, LX or LXi...or another way..carb or FI....and just for my own info- how many doors. Liked the 3rd gens, had the whole set in 4 dr at one time.
In 5th, is it a slipping feeling or a lack of power.
Since you just picked it up there are several maint types of things that you might want to check as well.

Looks nice! It's been updated so I can't tell by the pic, if it was factory then I could narrow it down. As redbull said, pop the hood. Also, the ecu is under the drivers seat-at least in the 4 dr-should be the sme on the 2 dr. See if there are any stored codes.
EDIT: Too slow in typing...thats a DX or LX carb.

Looks like it is carbureted.

Again just for my own reasons. Power windows and door locks? If so then you've got a LX. If not then it is a DX...no real diff.
"neither"? So no power windows (cranks you have to spin) or locks? If so just for future ref, that is a DX...again doesn't matter, just me wondering.
