Default Chipped P06 Ecu question

Hey guys, I bought a chipped P06 ecu from a member here and I asked for a basemap for my setup;

B16a2, ITR cams, Intake/V-stack,KiddRacing header,2.5" HFC, Greddy catback

He recommended going with a P30 basemap and lowering the vtec crossover to 5.1 and rev limit at 8.5k based on my dynograph I showed him.

The first chip he sent me, vtec didnt engage til 5.7k and it went up all the way to 9k ( i didnt try to go higher) and idle was a bit off.

The 2nd chip he sent me, vtec engaged at 5.4k and it still goes to 9k. Idles and runs fine EXCEPT...

On some start ups, it wouldnt hold idle and I have to give it gas for it to stay alive. Idle also would be at 2k when it's cool and then it'll go down to 1.5k after a few secs then down to 1k and around 700 when it settles on idle, warm engine, with ac off.

Went to the dyno today for some base runs. AFR on WOT was around 15, so we adjusted the FPR to add fuel and it's at 13 at the moment. No tuning was done just FPR adjustment.

What do you guys think is causing the bog on start up? It's runnning completely fine once warm.

The guy who burnt the chip says its a bone stock p30 basemap with vtec set at 5.1k and rev limit at 8.5k but he's stumped as to why neither chip gave those results. He's using crome to burn it btw, the dyno guy said "yeap, hear that problem all the time with crome" But I'm not sure, so I came to ask the experts..

Thanks for your time...

the car needs to actually be tuned. i have a ton of cars ive tuned using crome over the last 5-6 years with anything from 240cc to 1000cc injectors and they start and idle perfectly.

"yeap, hear that problem all the time with crome" ya and i bet he sells hondata....most people that bash crome will then turn around and try to sell you neptune, ectune, or hondata.

I had a similar problem with tunign my Z6 from a stock P30 map in crome... Was extremely lean at WOT... like 16:1. Should have been closer IMO, but I have all the stuff to tune on my own, so it wast that big of a deal and got it sorted out in about 10 mins.

So what do you guys think is causing the start up problem?

Just a bad programming job on the chip?

I mean on WOT, the afr is perfectly safe now, it's just annoying that sometimes the car wont hold idle on cold starts.

If its just a basemap then you need an actual tune. Basemaps are only meant for starting your car and getting it to the tuner. I've used Crome before and rarely had any problems with it. Have someone check your Iat's and your Iacv settings. Or try a stock ecu just to determine if its actualy hardware issues.

Forgot to mention, zero problems when running on the stock p2t ecu. So it can't be something mechanical

Do you have any way to monitor the sensor readings/datalog what is going on during this issue? If the idle smooths out when ECTs change then that is the most likely area to start looking at. Maybe the ECT fuel and ignition compensations are off or maybe the IACV duty %

If you have no way to monitor the sensors to give feedback or the ability to change the parameters and get immediate feedback yourself. I would suggest getting your car to a tuner. As I always say, a base map is just that, a base, in which to start the actual tuning.

I dont have any data logging of what's going on. I directed the guy that burnt the chip here, so maybe he can chime in...

Get it tuned or run a stock ECU.

I burned the chip and have never seen this many problems with stock code. It's stock P30 203 code, knock, 5100 VTEC, 8500 redline, checksum removed, P30 option byte, datalogging + RTP. No alterations to anything else, no extra features, nothing. It's so simple anyone with crome and a burner can reproduce it in about 30 seconds. It's burned to a 27SF256 chip fresh out of the sleeve.

So that shaking/bogging evolved in to a CEL Code 1 (primary 02 sensor)

I plugged my stock ecu back in, lowered my fuel pressure, and resetted the battery. No more CEL

Just FYI, the base p30 code in crome has very different idle/ post startup fuel and ignition tables then others (p28, p72, etc) I'd suggest having your tuner tune your ect and iat tables to get the correct a/f ratios at startup. IMO, your car is probably running to lean at startup, but you won't know without actually testing it.

That would explain things...

Would you recommend going with a different basemap in general or use a different program to burn it?

try the p30 209 code...or use the p72 code and copy paste the fuel and timing tables from the p30 bin.
also unless these are needed for a reason "checksum removed, P30 option byte, datalogging + RTP" dont add those scripts.

Ok well the CEL keeps coming back on. I play around with different settings for the regulator and it keeps coming back on.

Do you guys think my o2 is done for?

Should i just go ahead and get a wideband?
