99 ls, rear ended
last night i was on my way home and the car in front of me was turning so i had to stop. i was just reaching for the shifter when a f*cking neon hits me. She wasnt going very fast, maybe like 15 and my car actually looks fine on the outside, other that the bumper has some stress cracks. The hatch opens but it catches a little bit. The bad thing is, the floor on the pass side is crinkled in and where the rear piece the tail lights bolt into is welded to the floor, the seam is popped. What do you think the insurance will do? Im not sure what all they factor into insurance claims, ive never had anything other than minor visual things. The car drives fine, it has 170k miles one it. Any ideas?
Do you have pics?
I don't know how it works where you live but here in ri they will come look at your car an nit pick anything wrong with it (dings, interior stains, clear coat peeling, rust, tire tread, etc). From there they will give you a number of the value of your car.
Then they will estimate the cost it would be to fix the damages.
If the damages to not cost more than the value than they will cut you a check to fix the damages.
If they determine the cost to fix is higher than the value than they will consider it "totaled" and give you the value of your car and take the car. In some places like here they will also offer to let you keep the car with some money out of the total.
Whatever your plans are you should gather all receipts for anything put into the car and clean the car up as best as you can, every last ding, scratch, stain will deplete the value of your car

i cant get pics right now, but look at the car on the outside, all it looks like is the bumper got pushed in and has stress cracks. Under the carpet, in the hatch, on the passanger side, on the top of where the floor starts to dip down, (grammer, i know.) into the spare tire well it is crinkled in about 4 inches. you can also tell that the tail piece almost at the bottom of the tire well is pushed in a bit.
If you look on the inside of the trunk and see its pushed in than its got some frame damage and that's where it gets costly.
When you get the estimate of your cars value if it totaled and you really like it you can ask to keep the car and do a quick fix witht the cash they give you
In my accident they raped me tho and told me my car was only worth 500 cause the dings and rust, I had receipts for my b20 an ls tranny and they still said the condtion of my car brought it down to 500, you can see

my car is in fairly good shape, there is some small dings, and very very little rust. it runs and drives fine and the interior is pretty minty. mine isnt as nearly as bad as your hatch. like i said, the outside looks as if it wasnt ever even hit. but im just worried about the frame. i can shine a flash light from in the hatch, through the floor, and see it outside the car out the bottom.
