Skunk2 StageIII Cams vs JUN StageIII
Hi Guys, anybody run a SKUNK2 Stage3 CAMS and valve train using their SKUNK2 TI retainers, Springs and Hi Compression Valves in a B series engine?
What are they like compared to JUN Stage3? in terms of performance and quality of workmanship, durability, etc, etc,
Can someone advise? thanks in advance.

Both are race cams but the Jun 3's are streetable. I heard that Skunk stage 3's have a hard *** idle. Should make more power than jun 3's tho

Comparable if not better than the Jun III but are meant for "race" (ie, HIGH compression, WELL ported heads, etc... Valvetrain upgrade is MANDATORY !!
thanks for he info guys. so are you all agreeing that he Skunk2's are far better than the Jun stage3's
Guys so for road use and the occational trackday use, are you saying the comprimise will be the Skunk2 Stage2 rather than the Stage3's, baring in mind that the engine will be ported, polish, Skunk2 springs, retainers, Hicomp valves, bronze valve guides, thin gasket, running 12+:1 compression. Would there be reliability issues?

I have heard, though I can not verify this, that due to the very aggressive profile of the Skunk2 stage 3's, accelerated valvetrain wear is a problem. (rocker arms)
yea the stage 3's are pretty aggressive and definately not streetable. the stage 2's have almost the same profile as the JUN 3's. that would be a better comparison

correction... skunk 2 stage 3 are streetable. i have a couple of customers that run the stage 3's on daily driven cars and have yet to see a problem. and as far as a rough idle, thats all in the tuning. you really have to stay ontop of your valvetrain with a cam that big..ie..... valve adjustments more so often but that is the price you pay for a big cam, but they are deffinatly "STREETABLE"

If so how much bo you sell the B-series stage 3's for?
I've heard (and it was enough to scare me away) that the super-high lift on the skunk2 st3 cams is so much that they are somewhat difficult to make work with high (11.5:1 +) compression pistons. A friend was running 12.5:1 JEs and got rid of a set cause when he clayed the pistons, he had MASSIVE valve/piston slap and clearance issues.
Granted this is hearsay, but was enough to scare me away from them. I've heard a lot of good things about both the JUN3 and Skunk2 stage 2 cams, although I've heard its KEY to make sure the valvetrain is kept in tip-top shape.

Hi guys. thanks for all the info. I have now opted to try the Skunk 2 Stage 2's as they are supposbly much more Streetable, even advised by Skunk 2 themselves.
I will keep you guys updated.

I've heard the Skunk2 Stage3s makes more power then the JUN IIIs...
umm streetablity depends on the driver...basically steetable should be determined if your mother that thinks your car is stock can drive your car with no problems what so ever...hahahahaha
umm skunk2 stage3 is really ment for purpose built motors...if anything breaks or costs you more money in the long run i told you not to go stage3
umm jun3's my friend has them says they're great but wants more power...he drag races so i guess skunk2 would be a better choice? we really need dyno charts to really make a decision because each cam would put power in different locations depending on what you want to do.

Atleast JUN did test their cams on race track (not drag).
