Default Lower control arm question.

I have never had to replace a lower control arm on a car before... I figured it would save a little time, and effort if i just bought new control arms instead of buying the bushing and having someone press the new bushing in.

Do i need anything that is not included in this kit? Found it on ebay

CLICK

I'm not even sure how it comes apart, but can i reuse the other parts that connect, or go with it. Or will i just have to replace other things if i replace the whole control arm.

I'm pretty much asking if i can just swap that in and fix it the bushing problem. Take it off put it on etc.

Thanks.

Pretty much bolt off/on unless you damage something in the process. Of course it is always good to check everything else while your down there ie, ball joints, stabiliser link, ect.

the sway bar links are a PAIN IN THE *** to get loose. so you may end up having to buy a new one.

I say buy the endlinks. They aren't expensive and they get busted pretty easily.

I probable will if it ends up being the lower control arm bushing. It's between that and the strut, i have to look at it a little more to be 100 percent. I also have to buy the special socket, but I'm sure i will have it off again at some point.

yes those, may need to get ball joints because you may destroy yours taking the arm out.

This is probable something I'll figure out if i end up doing this, but how do you put the ball joints in? I know on my celica it's just screws it mounts to. But do i have to get the ball joints press in also, Or do they snap in? Thanks.

Yes they have to be pushed in. Have you looked at the FAQs?

I would just get the new lower control arms, sway bar links, and possibly tie rod end depending if they're loose. I had a bad bushing in my lc and I just replaced all of it. Sway bar links aren't that bad, just put an alan wrench in the end with an open end wrench and it should work. Or just put an impact on there with a vise grips, thats what i did. Also, just dont rip the boot on the lower ball joint and you should be ok.

Why would you get a new control arm? the bushing is all of 20 bucks, and your able to press it in with a vise ( a real vise not a cheap little thing)

sway bar links that i have seen NEVER come apart. allen key and wrench? are you serious have you ever tried to remove it before?

have you tried getting an impact gun NEAR the sway bar link?

and about the ball joints, they arent that bad to remove.

Don't forget everything i get to work on seems to get DESTROYED by salted roads from winter.

I just checked it out by a couple people seems like the strut, but i'll probable replace the lower control arm in the future, or sooner if it looks bad.

Do you have to get the honda adapter to press them in with the C clamp? Or can you just use a generic thing from auto zone? I have access to a hydraulic press on a bench, i think it will work. I just want to make things easy, and shops here charge around 30-40 to press anything in is why i was thinking just to buy a new one. It would be the same price almost.
