CRX speedometer stopped working
welll the speedo cable drives the odemeter as well so when that goes so does the mileage counter lol. check the speedo cable's connection at the trans. see if its popped out.
if it's connected and it still doesn't work then i could be broken in half inside, that happen to my cousin one time. low battery/ bad alternator can cause it too but of course you would know if you car has a low battery.

Follow the Speedo Cable from the firewall, to the trans. Pull it out (twist and pull, or there may be a pin/clip holding it, I forget. I think it's called the jesus pin or bitch pin (search) if I am not getting confused with MR2s...
Anyway, hook it up to a drill, and see if speedo/mileage moves. If so, then it's the gear in the trans (should pull out and replace... now I know it did in the MR2), if not, it's the speedo cable or cluster

vss cable. It might be that your retainer clip at the transmission came off and the cable came out, its either broken, or its not connected behind the cluster.

his car is a CRX. the speedo isnt electrical its cable driven. your thinking 92 and up models
pretty much it is one of two things.
1. speedo cluster died.
2. cable is either broke or come loose from the speed control in the tranny.
easy test is open the hood and follow cable down the rear of tranny near the mount and feel it is disconnected.
It is a little c clip that holds the cable into the tranny.
