Wondering if anyone has any ideas on this problem. I have a 2003 Civic EX and, for a while now, it has been really hard to start when hot (even warm). Starts right up in the morning, but once at temp and shut of, it will crank for a while before it turns over. This gets worse when it is hotter out. Once it is on, however, it would run fine.
Then, recently, I was driving on the highway (it was really hot out) for about an hour and the car just started stalling (like fuel restriction) until I pulled over and it died completely. I let it sit for a minute and then it started up, though I had to hold the gas down for a minute to get it to idle. I have tried priming the engine a few times before I start it hot and sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't.
Has anyone had these troubles before? You think its a defective fuel pump that quits when it gets hot but then is fine for a while? Thanks in advance!

I've never even heard of something like that before... Have you checked the normal things, like spark plug wires, spark plugs etc.? Throwing any codes? I would guess fuel injectors or fuel pump. But i don't know why it would be stalling when it's hot.

 

Well, thanks. Yea it is weird. I don't think its the wires because it works fine and starts fine when it is cold. Once hot, it cranks for a while before starting. Has anyone ever had problems with fuel pumps cutting out when hot (for whatever reason)?

Threw a code once, but by the time I could get to a scanner, it was gone.
