Went down today
As I was coming on base, a car took a wide turn after a stop sign where we had both stopped. I had to swing wide, and I looked at the curb that I wanted to avoid....yes, rookie mistake. I either should have looked into the turn or went straight since I was only going about 10mph. I may have been able to stop before the curb. Well, my front tire scrub the curb, and down I went. Fairing sliders would have been nice. At least dude asked me if I was okay before he drove off. Head is pounding
well... there is really no reason to bash you, Did you learn anything? then good. Glad you are okay, but now you can see that portion of the sport that get's expensive very quickly. I bet you put your foot or hand down first?
10mph, you couldn't get her stopped in time?
Perhaps you need to go out in a large parking lot and practice Slow Speed Maneuvers? Practicing that shyte is fun.

I definitely learned not to look where I don't want to go. Hopefully, I will practice it next time. I did it in the MSF course, but real world is a little different. I did put my foot down which probably saved my leg. I still don't see how people ride without helmets. I'd probably be dead right now. My helmet bounce off the concrete.
wow... you actually went down with the bike. Hanging on for dear life?
One thing that will be difficult to learn is to know when it's time to just let go, and believe me there are times when you need to separate your self from the vehicle. Was it the ol, try and hop along with the motorcycle while the bike was at extreme leans angles? I can picture it now. I bet if you covering that Front brake you may have been able to save her

I was going 10mph, tops. It only took a split second for it to land. I may have skidded two feet; I wouldn't say I held on for dear life, but we did go down together.
Either brake or go straight into the curve would have been my best choice. The curb was small, and 10 mph or less if I had been braking wouldn't have hurt the bike whatsoever. I leaned away from the curb, but I also looked down at the curb to avoid it...that was my downfall

thanks, man, but I'm going to try my hand at some bond-o and paint first. i probably won't get anything new until i've had the bike at least a year. i'd hate to spend $500 and go down again. I've always wanted to try fixing simple scrapes and dings on a car, so here's my chance.

i dont know, i just got a bike myself, its a 99 nighthawk 250 and i just rode it around in my back yard 1/2 acre for a few days, then took it on the street in the country area where i live. just yesterday i took it for a 20 mile cruise. give yourself extra time and space and always assume that none of the other vehicles around u know you are there. ride slow for a while and get comfortable on your bike.
the one thing i hate seeing is when someone gives up riding because they fell. i know you probably wont do this because you seem so enthusiastic about riding motorcycles, but its the worst thing anyone can do, unless you're one of those guys that asks for it by doing dumb ****.

minor damage, but damage nonetheless. After looking it over, it should be very easy to just sand it down and repaint it. I'm thinking neon green. Maybe I'll be a little more noticeable.
I have to admit...It was very hard getting back on that bike to ride. I felt like I had never ridden before. I did a u-turn to take it off base so that I could drive the car. My arm was sore, and I knew I probably wouldn't be up for the ride home. My u-turns have been very tight, but I felt pretty shaky going through it. I'm sure I'm going to get back on, but I'm going to wait until my whiplash is gone. I may or may not ride when it's dark for awhile.

cant let it get the best of you man, the best things for you to do is get back on the bike as soon as you can, stay loose and nimble on the bike, and stop analyzing so much. learn from this mistake and apply it. we all f$ck up sometimes, ive been riding over 10 years and i still go down at least two or three times a year. i wouldnt have all of that experience if i had just said "f$ck it" after going down. that damage is very minimal, shouldnt take too much to fix it, the important thing is that you're ok. definitely get some frame sliders and also think about case covers just in case this happens again cause a cracked stator cover or clutch cover can spell trouble. just get back on the bike dude, dont be afraid of it, but ALWAYS respect it. cheers

and yes, i went for a ride, and yes, it felt good.
