My build is somewhat complete, but I'm debating on the intake manifold that I want to run. I initially wanted to use a JG VictorX manifold, but I recently found a GREAT deal on a skunk2 pro series manifold and may want to run THAT instead.

Do you guys think I should wait and get the JG OR go ahead and get the skunk2? Am I REALLY going to make that much more with the JG?

I've seen where the pro series is also a good manifold as well.

why is everyone so obsessed with victorX?

there seems to be one group of people that "heard" its the ****
and another group of people that keep telling others that its for a different purpose.

where do you guys keep hearing about victor X? who is spreading the bad info there?

 

I ran the performerX and victorX both on a dyno - The performerX was beat in both torque / whp and also rev range by the victorX on my motor.. on the itr, it was the other way around..

I've seen a few guys locally dyno pretty shitty with the pro series manifold, i dunno why, maybe its cause i didn't tune it lol.. i dunno.. but i haven't seen too many "GREAT" results..

a Ported victorX on a properly built 2.0+ liter motor will out perform alot of things.

 

so it is better for 2liter but not for a 1.6 or 1.8.

because the main argument was that victor x is designed for much higher than stock RPM range

 

my favorite part is people calling them JG when JG hasn't been stamped on an edelbrock manifold in i don't know how many years

 

I put down 226 on the Sk2 Pro manifold with a 1.8L

 

I REALLY would like to port the Skunk2 as well, but haven't found anyone who would do it for a decent price. Would you like to share the info?

I may just have the runners port matched to the gasket and the match it also with my throttle body

Heard it's better suited for 2.0l+ and 7000rpms+?!

Anyway, not sure how high the cars gonna rev, that's up to my tuner. But the motors got the essentials if it needs to hit the high RPMs. Supertech Valvetrain+JUN3 camshaft

Car will be hitting the dyno in a few weeks, so i'll post a video&graph and hopefully make the numbers I'm hoping for! Anything below 210 will be

Can someone show me some dyno charts where the Victor X beat out the ITR/Skank style mani's? I've yet to experience those results first hand......

 

I've never tested against those manifolds.. - I've tested against the performerX thats it.

mikey whats your thoughts on a built2.0 liter manifold, obviously it needs to be ported.. but which would u port?? a skunk2 pro series?

 

I recall there being issues before where the taiwan/blox/skunk/obx manifolds didnt have enough meat inside to port out. I never cut open a proseries one before. I'd imagine that there'd be some sweet port action to be had if there is enough cast material to take apart.

Otherwise....the ITR mani's are thick enough to cut into.

i would think it would depend on what the build is. what compression, cams, head flow, the victor x is a pretty big manifold and would think its more suited for a high compression, big cam, ported head, setup. but like i stated aebs is pretty nice and half the price of both manifolds mentioned above

 

They were the worst to port around the throttle bodies, where you'd break through for a 70mm TB.

 

Still searching for proof on that. Maybe the engines' i have been testing don't have enough compression to back up the VictorX?

The AEBS is great for a budget manifold, the casting is pretty terrible and yeah....the throttle body opening can only accept so much porting. You'd be porting air before you can fit a 70mm tb on there properly.

 

aebs is a cheap junk manifold....takes more work to clean up the casting then its worth...buy a skunk 2 or a itr/ctr manifold

 

Had a very knowledgeable builder tell me that an 84 X 89 Pro2 cammed 12:1 CR B-series gained power EVERYWHERE with a ported ITR over a VictorX and PerformerX.

 

cnc ported itr manifold to be exact...a manifold of which i have sitting here waiting for my next trip to the dyno to compare to my ported victor-x....its also costs twice as much as the victor-x

i wouldnt know, im running a 65mm tb so i didnt touch it

 

for a cheap junk manifold it makes pretty good numbers on a p72 head compared to a skunk2 mani

 

and yes it is a great for a budget build hence why i used it lol my build is a budget build

 

a lot of people are missing the point of the victorX imo.

the money you pay for the victorx off the shelf, is a better bang for the buck than a itr manifold that haves to be cut open, ported etc. (which cost money as well to be modified)

 

My question would be...

How does an untouched ITR manifold stack up against a victorX on a 2.0L? I've gotta dig deep in my files from my old dynojet but im damn near positive i've never had a VictorX outperform even a stock ITR manifold on any 2.0L i've put together. If i remember correctly the Victor made a hair more on peak numbers but got beat out all around the midrange.
