Thud from P to R shift...
Hello all,
First post here.
I have a 06 Accord coupe v6 AT. I've noticed when I shift from P to R, I hear thud noise as the transmission shifts.
Scenario: car is parked in driveway. I have to go somewhere. Ignition on, press brake pedal, press the AT shift **** from P to R and "thud".
I do not hear the thud when it shifts into other gears.
Why is this anyone know?

i had this problem on a dodge neon, it was the torque converter and flywheel, take it to a transmission shop as it could be the hydraulics and slave cylinder
also i would check the motor mounts just to rule them out as a ploblem. makesure you dont see any cracking in the rubber. it may not thud from reverse to other gears cause the trans is already engaged. if you hit the throttle body to rev the engine while under the hood, watch the motor and make sure its not tourqing more than it should you will notice if it moves more than a 1/4 of an inch back and forth.
Parking pawl is probably engaged. You probably shift to Park and engage the parking brake at the same time or let the car settle on the transmission instead of the parking brake before engaging the parking brake.
Try this the next time you park. Shift to Neutral and engage the parking brake. Let the car settle on the parking brake. Shift to Park. Shut down car.
