Yes, I know there are 3000 posts of newbs asking what bike they should start out with. I did the search I read about all 3000 posts. I didn't see any of them that had a solution for my situation.
I'm 6'3", 210 lbs. I would like to get a bike to learn on that I could be entertained with for 2 years or so. All I've heard about the smaller bikes (250-400cc) is that I would be bored with one after a week.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Ninja 250......it is little bit shorter than standard bike........ but very fun and small enough to control
P.S. do not buy a 'busa for first bike

If you are not the type of person who would like to go straight at 180mph, 250cc is more than enough (speed wise, and for your own safety). If you find out that you like going fast, just go get one after a few years, when you get some experience.
I'm 6' and honestly most 250's are going to feel too small, especially some of the racer style 250.
Try checking out some other forums - http://www.sport-touring.net is a good one where you are unlikely to be flamed and where the same questions has been asked (search). These guys are not single brand focused or into one type of riding so you will get some good balanced advice.
Something in the 500cc to 650cc range would be the right physical size of bike. The race styles ones tend to be suited to shorter riders mostly. Bikes that may be worth looking at - Suzuki SV650, BMW F650 - it's a single but is a good alround bike that is physically big but with the sort of power that won't intimidate. There was a learner on one of these last year at a 2 day advanced rider course and it kept up better than anyone could have imagined.
The other advise it get thee to the bike shops and try sitting on some, you will quickly work out if they are too small or not.
Good luck.

The SV is a good suggestion as is a gs500. If you must have plastic, aka sportybike look, take a good look at the yamaha fzr600r. Good torque and much friendlier than say an r6. I wouldn't recommend a gixxer, neither 600 nor 750. Perhaps an older cbr or zx6 but not the zx6r. If the ninja 500 has a high enough seat height for you then that would be a great choice as well. Sv is my first suggestion.
