New honda civic owner
Hey guys, I'm a big toyota fan, but i i checked out a 2001 civic LX manual and liked it enough for the price.
It's in good shape except the engine bay is kind of dirty, not oily just dirty.
Is there anything i should look out for? I can't really get a straight answer anywhere. The clutch grabs good, but i've heard of people having to get the manual transmissions rebuilt etc? Do the manual transmissions really have that many problems in the 2001-2005 civics?
I also can't find out if this car is even reliable or not, I've heard some members hate it. Other likes it, and some are repairing it a lot but like it.
I appreciate any feedback, i know it has to be annoying for newbies posting things like this all the time. But i am trying to figure out the new car still, thanks.

there is an air bag recall on it i believe on 2001 honda sent me a notification on it to get it replaced and also the automatic transmission tend to go out on these but so far mines at 170k and still running strong the car personally its reliable parts doesnt cost you an arm and a leg really easy to work on and most of the time you'll find alot of answers to your car in the faq section
Thanks for the response, yeah i checked the FAQ section but there are a lot of broken links. All i can say so far is the car is a lot more roomier then a 93 celica ha. The manual transmission is way more touchy then other manual's I've driven too. Not a huge deal, just surprised i heard civics were really easy to shift.
Also everyone here runs 10-w20 sythetic? And change the oil every 10k? What does it actually recommend 10-w20 dino oil? Mine has 177k so i'm not sure if i should switch now or not. Would be nice to change it every 10k. I haven't had a chance to go through the manual and figure it out yet.
