Icon6 01 civic ex a/c comp. clutch flew off! quick question.

well, on my drive home yesterday, after making a quite loud grinding noise for about 10 seconds, my a/c compressor clutch flew off! the a/c hasn't worked since i got the car a year ago and doesn't bother me.

My question (s) is (are): the pulley and snap ring are still in place, is it safe to drive for now?

and second, as i don't care about the a/c working, can i just grab a clutch from a junk yard compressor and bolt it on to keep the pulley in place?

thanks for any help!

Mine did the same thing. Just replace the whole compressor.

unfortunately that is a few hundred dollars and time I don't have right now to spend on this car. and the non a/c belt is out of stock in all auto parts stores nearby,i ordered one, so until then, back to the original questions. is my pulley going to fly off or should i be OK for a day or 2 driving to work?

I know anything could happen and the pulley can fly off for some random reason, but just looking for an idea of what should happen.

thanks
