car jerks, clutch seems unbalanced
Hi, I seem to have this problem when going from a stop, driving in first gear and a little after shifting to 2nd gear. It seems like I'm not giving it enough gas and it jerks as if I can't drive properly. I am a very good driver in my opinion and this is making me look like a total nub lol.
I was thinking it was clutch cable being too tight, so I loosened it and it felt a little better, but I would still have to either rev it high or slowly drive on 1st to not make it jerk.
Also, my axle seems pretty bad, the housing is off but no tears or leaks. At first I thought it was the axle, like it wasn't fully spinning or something.
The feeling of it is like when you have bad mounts.
My friend has told me it might be the flywheel, how it's not grabbing as good anymore since the clutch cable was tighten and could have worn down the flywheel.
Any thoughts on this matter?

I would double check all the parts u suspect and posted above. Check all 4 mounts, I kno mine are shot and I'm getting something similar to what ur getting when shifting from 1st to 2nd..g/l
As a matter fact, it culd be more than just one of the parts on ur car. I kno axles may look good from the outside but could have a sheard shaft or worn out cv join. Hope this helps
Mounts are good and holding, it just feels like it has bad mounts or missing screws but I just checked and nothing could be found to say it was mounts.
On the hill, it's the same, really hard to start off in first. I would have to give it more gas. Now when I think about it, when i press the clutch and slowly try to release it, it does feel like it's slipping as where you would get that term. Like oil was on the tires lol
Once I get back I hope to replace the axle and update you guys.

Years ago I had a clutch/pressure plate problem in a VW. The sensation was almost a shudder or chatter when letting out the clutch, and it was intermittent. The dealer could not find it and would not honor the warranty. Finally, the owner took it home for the weekind and it did it to him in his uphill drive. Fixed. Unfortunately, no free look to find it. It was a different feeling than bad mounts.
I could take the more humorous approach and say if you cannot find the jerk in your car, look in the mirror.

On accident i discovered that a bad/dirty idle air control valve causes this feeling too. its the sensor behind the intake manifold/ in frot of the firewall. Very far fetched but IT DID happen to me. But the jerking was really bad kinda like when you hit the gas hard then let it go then hit it hard again.
I will check that out for sure, it does have a problem with the idle being low, but I took it to a shop and they adjusted the timing and throttle screw now it gets pretty high sometimes like 1500 rpm, sometimes normal.
It's an oem clutch. I guess you might be thinking I can't drive or something but this annoyance of the clutch is getting worse over time.
I have to give it more gas then usual, when I try to even it out and slowly release the clutch, still feathering quite a bit, it starts dying out as if I didn't give it enough gas or depressing the clutch pedal to make it stable but I do. Seems like it is not grabbing constantly.

But, Now I stall after I drive on the freeway.. the car just suddenly stalls and I have to restart my car..
What the hell lol even my mechanics didn't catch this but my ECU finally threw a code.. number 7 and I been checking around and it seems my throttle body or TPS is bad making it idle weird, stalling out, and jerking while getting on the gas after shifting... very very weird but I think this might be the jerking problem.
I would say to try to adjust the throttle screw a little more open but sometimes my idle goes pretty high as well as pretty low.
Think it's the TPS or throttle?

I was thinking it sounded like it was missing. If you fan the clutch in and keep the revs high does it go away? If yes, then the car is missing, weather it's an electrical miss or one caused by fuel/tps is anyone's guess.

I intalled Energy Suspension inserts in the motor mounts and it still kicks when I let the clutch out. I have replaced the clutch and flywheel. I was told to check the lower control arm bushings. I have yet to check them though.
I am having the same problem. I was thinking it was a motor mount issue but

96 integra ls... have kinda the same prob. when i take off in first its like its wheel hopping like crazy! i was thinking maybe the clutch has hot spots or i dont know.... mine will idle really low as well around like 400rpm, but has never staled on me.
Mine would stall after I get off the highway. In town, it doesn't stall at all. Today I adjusted the screw a little bit more open and I'm not stalling but idle surges around 400-1000 rpm.
Going to be on the road tomorrow so I will see how that goes. Some of this fixing will have to be on hold for a day or two.

so i got in my car after work..... and now my heat doesnt work! FTML winter is around the corner. any info on the clutch problem yet? im sure someone has had this in the past and knows what it is!!!
Damn. Yea it vibrates more with the inserts. It kind of sucks. I prolly wouldn't buy another set. They are in my daily driver Integra so I'm not too big on the vibration.
