Default Honda Civic DX 00 - I want to improve the overall vehicle. Any suggestions?

Hello fellow forumers,
I recently got a civic dx 00 and I want to improve the overall vehicle. I am a total noob at motor vehicles, but I have a strong will to learn. I believe everything is stock and I'm going to install my Viper 5900, power locks and automatic windows tomorrow. Thats pretty much the only things i've done to it besides getting a bigger rearview mirror. If you guys would please give suggestions and estimates too. I'm going to swap my stop D17 to a B18 ,but I do not know price range and etc. Thank you for your suggestions and please do not flame.

It depends on what B18 you're looking for man.
You have B18b, B18c, B18c1, B18c5, etc.
Cheapest way to go is B18b...
Which isn't bad at all for any where around $500 - $600.
Not that good at explaining though xD.

Anybody else care to help this guy out ?

best advice you'll ever hear, or read for that matter, on this forum is to search... not because no one wants to help, but because ther is TONS of info on this site... if its a question about a honda, im pretty sure its been brought up and answered. i like to search through the pics and read builds and find things that catch my eye, and read upon what it is, and go from there...

i agree.. the problem is that his question is so generalized because he simply doesn't know where to start. one would need some kind of direction to start narrowing his/her research.

so:

if you're gonna do your own work, get a helm's manual. as i understand it, it's a reprint of the honda service manual and will tell you everything you need to take your car apart and put it together.

if you want a motor swap, there are several comprehensive threads floating around. check the FAQ sticky at the top.

if you want to swap the motor, you'll have to do something about your suspension: springs, struts (a.k.a. shocks, though i believe struts is the technical term), anti roll or sway bars. lots of info floating around.

if you want more comfortable seats, there are several swaps available that vary from simple bolt-n-go to needing to weld or rebuild the seat bottoms.

and so on and so forth

Your car doesnt come with a D17. It comes with a D16Y7. if it has a D17 then its not a 00 civic. Also what makes you want to go B18 btw? For $3500 you can do a GSR swap, build a LS/VTEC, build a B20/VTEC or build and boost your SOHC (and convert it to VTEC). It depends on whether or not you want to go turbo (turbo cars are a headache). It also depends on how much power you want.
