CAR SHAKES WHEN TAKING OFF.. HARD TO SHIFT GEARS ALSO! NEED HELP!
Just put my DOHC ZC swap in and got it running I was told the clutch was recently replaced and it was an aftermarket one (but who knows) but i saw the clutch pressure plate and its yellow if that means anything lol but I go to drive it home but right off after finally put it into 1st and take off it shakes real bad but when i get going it stops at a certain point and i go to shift to 2nd and i have to pull so hard.. by the time i get to 4th its almost impossible to get it into 4th.. I have mobile 5w20 or 30 i cant remember but i didnt know what was goin on.. if anyone knows or has an idea please help me out
Its probably a type of performance clutch and from my experience and my instructors input as well, these type of clutches are a bit rougher to slowly engage...they work better when you just flat let out on it. I could only imagine how bad mine would chatter and shake if I hadn't also installed new hasport mounts, my old ones were comepletely separated.
As for the increasingly rough shifting, u might try using that silly honda genuine man. Trans fluid, u kno the stuff that's recommended.......
P.s. that unusually yellow pressure plate is indeed a probable sign that it is an aftermarket performance clutch.
Ill trade you my oe exedy from my zc to help u get rid of that chatter....he he

well idk maybe the fluid but I doubt its just that.. I mean the whole shakes real bad.. I have an extra si trans (88) with a brand new clutch I had on my a6 before i swapped the zc and I had no problem what so ever with that trans and clutch I put on myself so I think I might not even mess with this trans that on the car and switch both of them out
Make sure that your clutch cable is adjusted properly, If it's not tight enough you might not be fully disengaging your clutch, causing "clutch chatter"
Could be clutch chatter but I suspect the axles could also cause this type of heavy vibration under acceleration. If the clutch isn't slipping then its probably the axles. Though it sounds like you have other issues on top of that with the hard shift. Did you inspect the motor mounts?
Don't drive it like that - fix it first or you will kill the trans. First of all - what shakes - the car, the steering wheel, the shifter, the pedals... where exactly is it shaking? Second, did you remove the dust seals from the knuckles? I'm pretty sure the ZX swap does require that even though it's a bolt-in swap. Anyone want to deny or verify that? I'm pretty confidant I am correct on that one.
Motor and trans mounts? Are you sure you lined everything up correctly when you dropped the motor in? If it's sitting cockeyed - then that could explain it.
Another thing might be axle nuts are loose.
Disconnect the clutch cable and manually pull the clutch lever in and out to see how it feels without the cable - if it is still super stiff then someone is going on in the trans or there's problem with the axles. If you are still having clutch issues after you disconnect the clutch cable then crack off the knuckles all together - the check the clutch action.
If you didn't remove the inner dust ring - it might be part of or all of your problem... it's so hard to say without more info.

I just put a stge 3 clutch in my DA. And the point where the pedal engages/disengages is a lil more firm, it isn't by any means hard to press the pedal.
Is your clutch cable adjusted properly? Sounds like it could be tightened as much as possible which would cause similar symptoms.
the pressure plate sounds like an act, I have a matrix xrs wagon that commonly has same problem with these clutches, us hydro guys fix it with an extended slave pushrod, for a cable I would try tightening the heck outta your cable first, not according to spec, my honda technician buddy doesn't ride his ef by the book, has it set super tight, disengages almost as low as a properly set up hydro, daily driven with a z6...
