What weight do you think it could get to?
First of all i want to say thanks for repling to my otehr thread about "YOUR SUSPENSION SETUP". You guys here seem to be the most knowledgable out fo all the boards i frequent.
This year I had an EK hatch that was basically set up for street.
Next year I am taking it a notch farther with an Integra. The car will be an RS shell with an ITR engine most likely, and of course out the *** suspension.
Now im concerned that this car wont be as light as my last, obviously.
It will get basically a "from the e'brake back" full strip down, and will have a proper rollcage or somethign like a Kirk Racing 4 point.
What weight do you think i can get it down to?
Im hoping 2300 wet, with driver race ready. BTW im 145lbs.
Thaks again. Any tips from experience on what weighs most in an integra to take out. I have already learned from my EK that the firewall padding and carpet weigh dick all so they dont have to go.

havtn looked into it yet... Im not sure, i will probably only use it as a lappign car next year anyways. I need to learn the car before i go out and try to run eith people that have been in their ITR since 97-98.
tell me what you would do anyways...

I would find out what class I wanted to run in then read the rules. That will largely reduce your options for what you can do to lighten the car.
Let me use my amazing powers of perception to figure out what's going on here. You want to build up an Integra to be this amazing track beast but you don't even know the first step to getting a competition license or how to prep your car for actual competition.
I don't mean to be a dick about it but I have met countless numbers of people (usually teenagers) who think they can build this amazing track car by modifying their car however they want and go out on a track and be the next Roger Foo (or other popular import driver).

A Honda-Challenge GSR weighs in at around 2300lbs (Giles can confirm or deny this) without driver. This is about the same as what an IT DC2 will weigh as well. In these cars the entire interior is stripped out. My guess is 2300 wet with driver will be a stretch unless you start cutting **** out and replacing glass with plexiglass - both of which will make the chassis illegal for quite a few classes.
If this guy starts cutting metal to get to his "ideal" weight, he takes himself and his teg out of every competitive race group I know of...
Hey Sport. What are your plans EXACTLY? There are a bunch of really helpful people in here.... and I'm sure you'll get your answers. But include what you've done and what you want to do... in detail.

Even if your local rules (or lack thereof, for club lapping days or whatever) allow you to get really agressive with your weight loss program, it is usually wise to stay within the boundaries of what is allowed by the most common race sanctioning bodies - NASA, SCCA, ICSCC, EMRA, et al.
The reason for this is that, even though it is not wise to count on resale value even being an option for something that you drive on the track, it is equally unwise to do something that will guarantee that the car that you invest $15-20K in will be worth next to nothing when you are done with it. There were pics of a pretty, blue Integra shell on this site that will sit in someone's back yard and probably never be a racing car (or any other kind of car) because the modifications made to it exceed what is typically allowed.

The DC2 "body in white" weighs 1960. (Someone correct me if that stat is bad) That is simply the frame.
Add motor, transmission, wheels, suspension, brakes, gauges, and somewhere to sit, and I don't think that you could possibly get a running car, track legal or not, under 2200 lbs. Add cage, extinguisher, steering wheel, fluids (like engine oil), dashboard (which any series other than production requires), fuel, and 2400 starts to look realistic. SCCA Improved Touring minimum weight for this car is 2690, or something really close to that.

I dunno about that 1960lbs figure for just the frame, and i'm assuming you meant that includes the body panels... I know that most B18C motors/trannys weigh in ~320lbs. I figure the tub should weigh quite a bit less than 1960...

Complete rules are available at http://www.honda-challenge.com/ but generally, pretty stock stuff.

The head has aftermarket parts, but the valves are OEM so I believe I pass there. It's had portmatch and stuff done, but not more then an inch. I think I qualify for that class, but I have to read more on it tonight. I wont ever win but hey, if I can do it, it'll be fun.

Well, back to reading.
