92 gsr having problems starting up
i have a 92 gsr and im having problems on start up. when i start it up it turns over and sounds like it wants to fire up but wont. im thinkin it might hve something to do with my distributor. my starter is great im getting fuel its turning over. tis happens every 15 start ups or so. it has days that io will start up no problem and other days it struggles to fire up. im thinking of replacing my plugs and wires and cap and rotor. when i bought the car the guy said that the distributor sometimes wouldnt groud and he " fixed that" if anybody could help i would greatly appreciate it. thanks
Definitely start with a tune-up, plugs and leads, and if the distributor has had a problem, replace it.
Because the problem is intermittent, I would pull the distributor apart to access the coil and ICM and make sure all the connections are good, [clean and tight]. 94

yes i am 100% getting fuel.... this problem only occurs like every 15 starts. it wants to fire up but wont. the guy i bought it from did the swap. it had the full b17a1 but it now has a b18b1 with the b17 vtech head. iv had to splice so many wires its not even funny. im also thinking of replacing my wiring harness
I have to agree that it may be the PGM-FI Main relay, the main relay can be very intermittent at first and it gets progressively worse, but can stay very intermittent for a long time.
When it fails to start next time, turn the ign. key to run, [not all the way to start] and listen for the fuel pump, you should hear it run, [hum] for a few sec. as it primes the fuel system.
If you do not hear the fuel pump priming, find the PGM-FI Main Relay, [under dash just to the left of steering column] and turn on the ign. and give the relay a tap.
Or pull the relay and do the "repair"... http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/mainrelay.html if you do not have a starting issue again the relay was the problem.
The fuel pump itself can start failing intermittently and give you starting problems once in a while. 94
