F20c into E30 3 series
I am about to pick up an E30 for basically nothing and i want to do a non-bmw swap. The F20 would be perfect for such a light car. I have heard of a few people doing this but can't find too much info about it. What do you think? What can you tell me?
PS im not an idiot. I am new to the forums yes, but not new to cars.
If you are going to hate...ok. lol

Can't find too much info on it? What are you expecting a full step by step process on swapping the F20C in? I do not think I've seen a single step by step process for any F20C swaps........... I think you are pretty much on your own for most of those items (mounts, wiring, etc)
E30s rule! I think that swap would be sweet, allow i would also recommend the f22c or sr20. Or if you want to **** people off you could swap in a ford 2.3 turbo from the turbo coupe and svo mustang. One of my buddies has a fox body with a 400hp 2.3 that pretty nasty on the strip.
Im not really looking for a big motor in the front. I want to keep the great balance that the e30 already has. I also really want to keep it honda and love the 9k revs. There is a decent amount of room in an e30 engine bay so a turbo setup may be something i would look into. How sweet would it be to see a 35r sitting next to a honda badged motor in a bimmer??

well, the S2000s beauty is it's chassis and suspension... the engine has always been one of "could use an extra 100-200hp".
a LS1 isn't much heavier than a F20C, like 385lbs vs. 340lbs respectively. but, you're getting 120 more hp, cheaper to mod, cheaper to buy, and torque.
or go crazy, tri-rotor

They have a good deal of car knowledge (which you say you have, so there's a start) and they ask questions along the way when they hit snags. If you are looking for someone to give you the answers, good luck. Start looking on your own for what you need and ask SPECIFIC questions about what you are having trouble with/confused about.
And don't get me wrong, I want to see this as well.
Just be aware that to do this, you really just need to get as many pieces together as you figure you need and start experimenting.
Sounds like you need to figure out these basics:
-Engine mounts
-Engine/trans fitment
-Drive shaft
-What rear axle
-Suspension (spring rates, new overall weight, etc.)
-Any other performance mods and their fitment
The list can go on, that's just to start.
I have already tried to contact the owner of the e30 posted and i have been on e30 forums. I still don't have a great deal of info (which is expected) and i wanted to see if people on here have seen one first hand. I know there are a lot of members on here with HUGE backgrounds and may have come across one or something close to it. As for the whole hater thing, i just didn't want anyone coming on here telling me im stupid and since i don't own my own shop i can't do it. That crap is always thrown at people who sometimes don't deserve it no matter what forum. If i could avoid it then
but if not oh well. A LS1 or LSX would be sick but i would really like to see the Honda motor in there. If i did turbo it there is my extra HP. I'm not too worried about $ because i have no plans on making this an overnight build.
Thanks for all the comments.

but if not oh well.Negative much?
Please do. Would like to see one of these threads end up with an interesting build.
OP, don't listen to these *** hats. It's about about your personal preference, i personally think it's a cool swap. Whatever makes you happy is what you should do, especially since it's your car and your money. You will also be driving it.
None of my bmw's have ever popped a differential, but my honda has popped 3. I don't get the humor in these jokes. My s2000 is only driven about 4 months out of the year, and usually 2 of those months are spent broken.
If the OP is looking for alternatives to the F20C, he could try a Toyota 2JZ or 7M. I heard about a shop that specializes in swapping those into BMWs so he could take some pointers from them.
no v8s! this is honda fourm where you get a good balance of mpg and performance, and owned a few 240s myself, i think an sr20 would be a cheaper route and trust me they scream at 7500 rpm
