repairabel flat?
As a Costco Tire Shop Supervisor myself, I would fix it. UNLESS, there is existing run flat damage, the tread depth measures 3/32" or less, there is already a repair within 15" of the current puncture, you used a Fix-A-Flat or a Tire Slime type product, there are already 2 existing puncture repairs, or if the DOT on tire states the tire was manufactured 8 years or more ago. It is not too close to the sidewall to repair. Costco Wholesale does not in any way provide commission for any type of sale at any time for any employee either.
Thanks everybody for your replies.. I took the tire to Discount Tire. They fixed it without a question. Usually if the puncture is too close to the sidewall, you cannot fix it. Now "too close" becomes a judgment call. Costco guy for whatever reason did not fix it while Discount Tire did.
CourtDracura none of those things applied to this tire. The tread was sufficient. They were giving me the new tire for half the price. But I am somehow suspicious. I have already changed 3 tires in the last year and a half because of a non fixable flat. Maybe I should have taken a second opinion each time.

Sorry to hear that you experienced an unsatisfactory situation lovensmile99. This tire is definately not a road hazard and should not have been offered as such. My hope is that you don't hold all Costco's in low regard due to one location's misdiagnosis. If you live in Minnesota, I'll definately assist you in regards to this or future tire matters.
