90 ee wagon code 12 egr problems
Whats up Ht! so here it is...ive done my research and nothing..I a stock 90 ee wagon thats automatic. It comes stock with a egr valve. I just bought the wagon this week and it came with a code 12(EGR). The egr was replaced by the previous owner so its new. I keep getting a code 12 and I cant figure out why? As far as I know The egr valve has 3 wires. One is ground which it is and one will have around 4 volts when under load(driving) and the other will have 5 v with the key on. I check the voltage and nothing. Im pretty sure that there is no fuse for the egr valve and that the power is straight from the ecu. (can someone confirm). I went ahead and replaced the ecu with a known to be working one off my old 88 hatch and reset the ecu. The code 12 check engine went away and I have proper voltage at the egr valve. The only problem now is that the new ecu is flashing code 19(torque converter solenoid). The car wont go into gear. I know for a fact that the ecu is auto because the hatch was auto. Are 88-89 auto ecus different from 90-91 ecus or EE wagon ecus different than hatches or 4 doors? Thanks peeeps....please help
