Need help, fan only works on 3 & 4 BUT fan itself makes funny sounds sometimes?
i've got a 98 DX hatch, and winter is coming and my fans don't work on 1 or 2.
3 and 4 are getting weaker i think, and the fan makes funny noises sometimes, but they stop if it's bumped.
What's my issue?

Test the blower resistor.
Also remove the blower motor (three screws) and clean out the leaves and junk stuck in there.

i checked it out didnt test the resistor decided i'd just pull it out and see and i think it's done

and this is what the blower looked like when i pulled it out, pretty clean.

If you wire power directly to the blower motor, does it make the funny noise or is the noise coming from somewhere else?
but it's not making the noise anymore but i did hear something when i had it out and would just use my hand to spin it. the sound resembles something like rubber ring around plastic if you know what i mean... not sure how to describe it
Also today as i was driving it began making that noise again. so i'm thinking it might be with the actual blower itself
I had a horrible groaning noise coming from my blower that would go away for a few minutes if I hit certain bumps and it was quiet if I unbolted it and turned it on. There's really nothing else there if the motor is clean and not hitting anything, a new one will fix your noise
