Default Crx knock of death?

Ok I have a 88 Crx hf. At was used and abused when I got it. Long story short. When I start it and go to drive and the temp gauge still says cold it knocks when I give it gas. Even if I engage the clutch and roll at 1k rpms it knocks. But at idle 2k rpms and till it warms up it doesn't not knock at all. Then once the needle hits the first line right above cold it doesn't knock at all. So is it a knock or maybe something else. And if it's a knock if I let it warm up will the car last a few more thousand? It's my dd.

My opinion is: I never heard a car knock just when the clutch engages or moves. Most the time it knocks at idle or warm up as well. I am thinking exhaust leak that sounds bad? I just had the valve lash done as well. And oil level is perfect and 10w-30.

pop the hood and listen closer...Is it coming from the top end or bottom? could be rod knock or could be something simple like your ac compressor or tensioner or something. You cant always assume its the obvious unless you know exactly where it is coming from.

Old school mechanics used stethoscopes to listen to engines

This actually sounds like how my crx was, when i bought it.
when mine was idling, it wouldent knock, but after a certain RPM it would?
be careful man. mine thru a rod after a while =[
but she's all better now =]

AND if i were u, i would give the bottom end a good look and make sure all ur piston rods are tight and all that.
