Default why is my car not getting in time.....

alright. when i had my old timing belt on and the new one i could not get the car in time.....the cams are lined up perfectly along with the crank....i used the timing light and could not get it close.....what else could be the problem....i checked the plugs they are good but i think spark plug wire # 3 might be bad.....could that be a reason...if its not bad what else should i check....rotor and cap are fine......please give some suggestions..

hey,try this........take off your distributer leave the cap and rotor on pullit out and turn that little knobby with the two nipples on it EXACTLY 180 degrees and put it back in. put it back together and time it ,that should work.

The fitting on the distributor can only go in one way. Maybee there is an internal problem with the pickups in the distributor. Oh this may be dumb and I dont' mean to insalt you but are you sure your timming light is hooked up to # 1 sparkplug wire? It's the one right next to the timming belt.

How far off are you? Can you see the marks, but you have no more room to adjust? If that's the case move the timing belt a notch depending if you are advanced or retarded.

89civic1.8..what i suggested to do is exatly what happened to me.yes the distributer can only go in one way, but when i put my intake cam back on i must have turned the distr.180 and everything went in fine.

but yeah you have to time with the plug closest to the timing belt

yes i do time it with #1 and no u can not turn it 180 degrees. it will only go in one way...i am sure that the timing belt is on perfecly and i think im juist going to get cam gears. and hopefully i will have enough play with that to help my prob...thanks for the hel[p
