Default h23 vs f22 tranny

Okay, so i have a turbo f22b1 in my EG.

Im looking to push 325ish. A buddy of mine is selling a grindfree h23 tranny for 150 bucks. I'm wondering if i should put the h23 tranny on the f22, or should i stick with the f22 tranny. I'm pretty torn, i HATE the long gears, but i don't know what the gearing is like on a H23.

You should like the H23 gearbox. The gearing is shorter than the F22, longer than the H22. It has the same FD as the H22 trans.

$150 is a damn good price. Pick it up, you'll love it.
Even with a relatively stock F22a, the H23 trans makes driving my Accord much more fun.

It will make it fun around town, but cruising interstate will suck...

im not very smart when it comes to turbos but when it comes to boost isnt it better to be in it as long as possible...meaning that it might be better for the longer gearing

I would consider the h23 the b16 of h/f series lol.

people say this because of traction issues. I would not of traded my GSR tranny on my 300 hp b16 for anything. It all comes down to the driver IMO.

Uhhh,

H22A Euro R > US 4G H22 > JDM 4G Prelude > 5G H22 Prelude = Accord F20B > H23.

5th gen Prelude all H22 and T2T4 F20B are geared the same and are shorter than H23,
JDM 4th gen are yet shorter
USDM 4th gen is yet shorter
Euro R T2W4 is even shorter

Not really. Like RUDEAWAKENING posted. The H23 trans is geared long for a Honda transmission. Taller gearing will only be found in the F22/F23 transmissions. I would stay away from the shorter geared transmissions for boost.

Maybe you should try the search function then retard (actually I'm doubtful you could muster the intellect to successfully manipulate it judging by what I've seen out of you so far), Ive blown up, rebuilt and molested more H/ F series trannys than you've smoked poles, and am tired of posting it. the information in this thread is wrong. I'm not here to spoon feed you, figure it out...

Jackass.

OP: I MISSED YOURRE THINKING OF PUTTING THE H23 TRANNY ON A BOOSTED F... ITS A REALLY GOOD CHOICE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE THE LIMITER UP SAY 500 RPMS FROM STOCK.

PM ME IF YOU NEED ANY HELP... Lets say Ive been arouond the block with H tranny ****.

I switched from the stock F22 tranny to the H23 and it feels much shorter. It's needs a taller 5th gear, IMO. 80 mph on the highway is roughly 4200 RPM which is putting me at 25 mpg.

I never understood how longer gearing is better for boost. The faster the car revs through the powerband, the faster the car will accelerate.

In my straightcuts 5th is 1:1.... WITH 26" tire 75MPH is at 4400 RPMs... But redlines at 9200 and it RIPS through the gears... The power helps

i had a 95 honda accord turbo with a f22b1 on 11 psi with f22 and it sucked. the car didnt really pull after 3rd gear felt like it felt on its face.. i ended up running a 14.1 @ 105 with a 2.2 60ft. then i ended up getting a h23 tranny, all i have to say, it was a night and day difference.. i loved that tranny. i didnt get to run the car at the track with the h23 tranny but i did run my friend 99 ek with a b18b turbo on 11 psi with a gsr tranny and i pulled a car on him. and he ran a 13.7 @ 107 with his set up. so i kno my car was a mid 13s car. hope this helps. u will love the h23 tranny trust me lol

actually i do use the search function on a daily basis...and what is this that you have seen from me, me saying what "ive heard" from a turbo guy claiming that longer gearing is better, i never said it was fact or that I/he was right... and so does that youve blown 1 tranny since you comparing to how many joints ive smoked...im just saying if your going to come in here and say people are wrong then back yourself up with info and reasoning or even a link to one of the 12346917236 places you have posted it cupcake

ok, in an effort to divert this.

All I have to say is this is one nice ride I saw a while back.

EDIT:Removed link

I left all of my feelings at work today so if you want to flame me for jumping in...fine. If I get banned, fine....all I have to say" Nice ride my man". Been wanting to say something but figured you wouldn't reply to a PM from someone you didn't know.

This applies for weak engines. Talk to l'orange doing 140mph in 4th gear 1/4 mile with an F22 trans.
