DIY fix for huge door dent from Hit and Run?
Hi everyone,
Life just gets suckier. I got a hit-n-run at a parking lot. Didn't see what/who hit it, but there are dents on my driver side door now. Mirror also got swept clean off.

The mirror's motor still works. The outside casing could be hacked up with super glue. The mirror itself is a goner though. I wrapped the thing with suran wrap in case it gets wet. From what I googled, it seems I might need to replace the whole mirror though :/
But what I care about is the dent and the paint. I considered calling up my insurance, but a little research reveals that hit-n-run would go under my collision coverage...filed with me at fault (which would result higher premiums in the future...) http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who%27s_re...and_run_damage
So...I am going after DIY solutions if possible. I took a toilet plunger and popped out the top dent (there is a small crease...but good enough for me). The bottom dent, however, is a little bit too sharp for the plunger trick. I am thinking about the "reaching in and pop the dent out from inside", so I googled video/pics of door panel removal, but I am not sure if I can get to the spot where the dent is. Here is the video that I used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV4FZKNKfjk#t=2m56s
Basically, I would need to be able to reach the area in front of where the speaker is. Does anyone know if it is reachable? From the video, it seems like that part is solid metal.
To show you where the dent corresponds to:

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

so sorry to hear that man...angers me when something stupid like this happens...i also just got rear-ended the other day by a fkin old person that wasnt paying attention to the stop light..
anyhow...i think it can be done but will be very hard as you will have small room to work on...when i took off my door panels last time, as far as i can remember there are parts that are hard to get to...

Paintless Dent Removal guy should probably be able to pull that out without major issue. The only issue is it runs along the body line - won't look 100% again but definitely better than trying to do any other method!
I will definitely check out paintless dent removal. There are two shops nearby that has decent reviews.
Though, it looks like they will charge in the hundreds range just from searching online (~200 - 300 is my guess). That's a couple hundred less to pay off my student loans.
Does anyone know good guides to DIY paintless dent removals, besides the plunger, hair dryer + dry ice? I might just make some of those PDR tools I saw in videos and do it myself, if I can find a good guide on PDR training.

The area where the speaker is located in the door sheel is basically a hole, so if you removed it, yeah... you will be able to reach the metal part of the door (the outer skin).
