d16y7 with a y8 intake manifold - idle and driveability problems with codes 14 and 65
I have a d16y7 with a y8 intake manifold and i found out that my car doesnt have a bulb in the check engine light port of my cluster so i put one in from the seat belt bulb i dont really care about that i wear it all the time lol, anyway i do the paper clip thing and i get codes 14 for the iacv and then code 65 for the secondary oxygen sensor black wire or something, i tried cleaning out my iacv but i noticed that the screen isnt even there and when i disconnect the iacv and start it it idles lower to around 900rpm but when its plugged in it idles at 1100 1200 then it idles up to 1500 and when i turn my head lights on the idle goes back down to around 1100, also when i slowly get out of first around 1700 rpm itll sound like im hitting a rev limiter and just jerk the car back and forth and if i step on it harder itll go away, but if i feather out of first it wont happen and if i rev it to 2000 and let out the clutch it wont happen
my question is
does the iacv code cause my car to idle the way it does?
also does the iacv cause my car to hit the rev limiter like that? or is it the secondary oxygen sensor.
actually just let me know what you guys think

if i get a new 02 sensor can i use the primary and put it as the secondary and put the new one as the primary?
hey hey hey i got that problem one time my friend, just disconnect your wire hardness and connect it back on right sensors and connector, thats happen when you have something connected wrom!!!!, find another friend who got a d16y8 motor and see his wires and connect your like him its. good luck

ok so this is what happens, was bad quality cuz i had one hand and was a blackberry.

a lot of the times when im turning putting it into second rpm would be around 1500 and if im stepping on the gas about a quarter of the way it wont happen but any less then then itll bog, jerk, buck thats pretty much how all the gears are, it sounds like a rev limiter 2 step

The code for the IACV you're getting is most likely due to the y7 having a 3-wire IACV while the y8 manifold uses a 2-wire. You need to modify two or three wires on the ecu clips and solder a 2-wire plug in the place of the 3-wire plug (there's plenty of DIY's here on HT and on google, just search it). Also, I'm not sure which stock ecu you would run because as far as I know, all 96-up non-vtec(lx, cx, dx) civics came with ecu's that look for a 3-wire IACV, while the 2-wire ecu's(ex, hx) all looked for 2-wire IACV's.
A friend of mind did that mod on his car (00 Civic LX), and he used his stock ECU but had to retain his stock throttle body which has the 3-wire IACV attached to it and left the 2-wire unplugged. As far as i know, it runs fine. Hope this helps.
As for your o2 sensor, check your wiring, test the sensor, if checks out bad, replace it.
EDIT: your car is running crappy due to the IACV issue
EDIT #2: I jumped to conclusions and automatically thought that was your problem without first asking you if the IACV wiring mod was done. If it was done, maybe the IACV is bad, if you didn't do it, then hopefully it will solve your problem.

So you you're still running the d16y7 ecu which is looking for a 3 wire iacv yet you rewired the harness to accept the 2 wire iacv.
any ecu that uses a 2 wire iacv would clear the code...i personally ran a p75 on my d16y7, worked great...
Just block off the IACV on the back of the IM and use the Y7 throttlebody or get an automatic Y8 IM and throttlebody.
the ports of the y7 tb do not match the y8 intake manifold and an automatic iacv does not work with a manual ecu
your spitting and sputtering at 2 grand ish and it goes away is ehter one u got junk cap rotor plugs wires'; my ek did that bad plug gap ' mine were fried' or bad cam sensor' do a everyday tune up for a whole 30$ and ods are prob have it fixed'
