Default blowby ls vtec 400+whp pic

running the hoses off the back of the block straight to a catch can. open breather on valve cover.
i have 5w-20 mobil clean 5000 in it and last night raced a cbr 600rr, turbo porsche, and 06 mustang gt on a 175 shot.
beat all 3 but was shooting oil out of the breather on the catch can like crazy, but according to my dipstick used no oil? and only smoked on deceleration after i push the clutch in, it smokes for sec then stops, this is wierd...
the corner of my car where the catch can is is COVERED!

for the love of god put a dumptube on that wastegate asap.

as for the blowby, my can fills up as well. do you have a baffle in yours to help keep the oil in as its coming out under load?

if you are concerned about motor health, check your plugs for detonation, then do a compression and if needed leakdown test.

other factors...

what ptw tolerence was the motor assembled with?
what are the ring gaps?
how does the tune look as far as afr and total timing?
5w-20 is relatively thin oil. do you run a restrictor?

iv personally seen nothing but issues with venting the block ONLY...maybe try venting the valve cover also...

no baffle that i know of, its an endyne can?
hell i dont remeber the specs on the motor when i built it, it was in spec, egale h beams and weisco 8:8:1 pistons .40 over so its 82mm bore.
tunes it a little on the rich side, its pretty conservative, tuned by adam hopkins on ectune.
yes running 7/32 oil restrictor amd have over 80psi oil pressure in full boost and vtec.
is the valvoline race oil in 50wt too thick?
what will detonation look like white with little chunks out or something?
its open downpipe so i cant hear it if it is but it was tuned with a wideband.

you may be losing as much as 50+ whp by not running a dumptube that is routed under the oil pan. This is because the extremely hot gases from the wastegate are blowing directly into your turbo. The hotter the air, the greater the chance for detonation and less power produced.

Ok well then it probably isnt so bad of a problem. I bet that it would definitely help make a few more whp

WTF is that on the valve cover going to the manifold? I hope thats not a brace to keep the wg from falling off. If it is then you have some janky **** bro.

its not just hot but very low in oxygen. think, all the o2 in the air should have been consumed in the combustion process, so now your motor is sucking in hot air with no oxygen.

ive personally seen dyno gains of 30+ hp with the addition of a dumptube

I think most people refer to that as an "Oil feed line".

Its not just the temp. Most of the oxygen in exhaust has been consumed. Doesnt make for good intake air. Dont be a ricer, just put a dumptube on it.

The fittings off the back of the block always tend to allow alot of oil to make it's way into the can. Looks like an enzyme setup I ran on years back and overflowed it every pass on the track. Best thing to do plug the holes and put two off the front of the valvecover and you should be good to go

well i was using a z10 can that would fill every 2-3 passes with the block fittings. solution: i got the welder and some metal and made a larger catchcan, almost 1 liter in size. i can go much longer now without emptying it out

That looks like the oil feed line not a brace. lol... motor looks pretty clean, get a dump tube, and I like the d series vtec solenoid

Sometimes you get a lot of blow by out of the back of the block. also 5-20 wtffff! never run a turbo motor on less then 10-40

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this but not running a hood certainly affects your aerodynamics and your overall time. Never seen a reputable drag car without a hood, but hey that is just me.

Make a return line from your can to the front of your oil pan. And then it would also help if you went from your valve cover to your can instead of your block to can.

all the people i kno ran line from the back to the breather had their breathers filled.. the ones that got holes infront of the valve cover never had an issue with the breather.

try getting 2 holes infront.

My car does the exact same thing and I am NA at the moment. I am running the go autoworks ss catch can (big bastard) then returning it to the block via speed theory fittings. I notice that when under WOT oil magically appears on backside of my motor. I have teflon taped the block fittings in hopes that was the cause, nope still leaks. I have less then 800 miles on the car and after initial startup the car was street tuned with 14.7 AFR across the power band. I might check my catch can to see if its full, but if its not what else could be causing this?
