sucked up water
no there was a huge puddle across this road, and the storm drain was hella backed up...it was pissing rain and it was dark as ****...i keep trying to tell this so called friend of mine that water can lock a motor, and he keeps telling me it doesnt...
It can also happen when it's running which is very bad as you can break a rod, damage the cam, ruin the rings and seals, etc.
Try taking out all the spark plugs and cranking it till the water comes out (as much as you can get out). Let it sit so the remaining water can evaporate. Then replace the plugs, fire her up and hope you didn't kill the engine.
EDIT: Almost forgot, make sure you change your filters and look at the plugs as they may need to be replaced as well.
*Sorry about the fuzzy pic, all I have is the phone cam. For your proof:

Take my word for it, if you hydro-locked your engine, you would know, the sound is ugly.
A little water sucked into the engine will do, at the worst, stall the engine.

If all you did was suck up some water, pull the plugs, disconnect distributor assembly, and unplug the PGM-FI Main Relay, [or pull the fuses] blow out as much as you can cranking the engine, [re vid] use compressed air to blow out the rest, squirt a little oil into cylinders, crank a few tims, install plugs and fire it up. 94

there is 2 diff ways this can go depends on the incident . #1 if the motor is pulling enough to pump a cyc full of water you can cause major internal damage ( usually this is pretty apparent ) as a rod will usually go through the side of the motor at the very least the motor wont crank over . #2 you get the filter wet enough to clog the filter basically your starving the motor of air shutting the motor off ( the motor will still crank just wont start when this happens ) .. as stated before #1 pull the plugs crank it over and make sure there is no water in the motor #2 if there is water drain the oil ( as some of the water has probably made it into your oil at this point ) . once youve done this install the plugs put in fresh oil and a filter crank her over and hope for the best ....
