Default I'm desperate for some good cam info...

ok, I searched "cams" and looked through 4 out of 10 pages and I can't take it anymore...

Here's my setup, B18b : Aftermarket header and 2 1/2" exhaust, skunk2 intake manifold and throttle body, Unorthodox Cam Gears and Underdrive pulley, Upgraded wires...I think thats it.

Anyway, I would like to drop in a nice set of cams, but I don't want to have to replace the valve springs, retainers, or anything else. I don't want to have to tune it just yet, don't want to upgrade my fuel or anything else at all.

I want to be able to just stick with the setup I have now, drop these cams in, and gain some hp. Is this possible? and what are the best cams for me? any help will be greatly appreciated, thank-you in advance

no point to upgrade the cams if your not going to upgrade the valve train

Yup.

Do you not want to change it, or don't know how too? In my set up, I have a set of 403's,(crower) and their valve spring ti. retainer kit. Easiest thing I have ever done. It was easier than the stock valve train. I don't think you can get a set of good cams without upgrading everything else...

Now, if you don't want to up grade anything, then why get cams? I am confused...

with the other guys, you have to do it as a matched package. larger cams will require more spring pressure. crower does make some nice LS cams but you HAVE to use the correct springs or else you're going to float the **** out of your VT

Because I'm hearing so many mixed things about cams man, I've read a ton of different threads that say " oh you need to upgrade the valve train and upgrade the fuel and all that" then I've read threads where people just drop em in and go, even on crowers website they say nothing about upgrading the valve train for stage 1 cams...

there's nothing mixed, you have half *** idiots that troll on here and you have the manufactures specs. if you follow directions you'll have a solid motor, if you listen to some 17yr old punk who builds a slap together motor and thinks he's the next smokey yunick you'll get a time bomb.

if you used crower 403 cams, you would use the springs and retainers the guys at crower tell you to.

he didn't call you that, he called the people giving you the wrong advice half *** idiots. You don't want valve float due to bigger cams, you can't just slap cams in and expect them to work good. Be patient and do it right the first time or don't do it at all.

I'd just stick with stock because it doesn't sound like you wanna actually make any power.

I agree 100%, also i am sure if you are serious about buying some cams the guys at Crower will be happy to explain to you what you would need to run x- cams.

Your comment just made you a half *** idiot. But I will give you an answer anyways. Crane cams 0012 can work decently with stock valvetrain BUT your valvetrain would stand a better chance if they are new or fairly new.
