Need help car vibrates when hitting 65mph+
Well i already got an alignment and have some decent tires on it what else could it be?It drives fine it doesnt pull to the right or left but when i hit 65mph + the steering wheel start s vibrating .Any help would be appreciated
Different at different places. Call around in your area. They will also find bent rim and tire problems, if any, when they spin balance. New problem, new to you car, any axle changes???
Why does everyone think an alignment issue is directly related to a vibration? An alignment has no direct relationship to this. Alignment would cause a pull to a direction. When you start wearing the tires from off-alignment, they could cup or feather and then cause an vibration.
Vibrations are caused by something being out of balance. Your wheels are pobably in need of balancing. The wheels could be bent. A tie rod could be loose or broken. A ball joint could be bad. The tie rod and ball joints are probably fine, since they would see this during the alignment.
Since it's in the steering wheel, it leads me to believe the front wheels are the culprit. If you felt it more in the seat, then it's the rear wheels. If you feel it in both, then both ends are out. A shop shouldn't charge more than $25-30 to perform a rotate and balance. When I worked at the tire store, we recommended roatating them every oil change. This would keep the aligment wear minimal, thus maximizing the life of the tires.

thanks slain my rotors are warped and my brakes have no meat on them .I need to replace them asap hopefully that will get rid of the vibration .thanks guys

Yes, he explained it very well. One more possibility he didn't mention is if the suspension bushings are shot. Basically, either there is something wrong with the wheels and tires - out of balance, or bent, or defective - or there is something wrong with the suspension, something that allows some play, and the back and forth of whatever is allowing play is causing the vibration.
The best thing you can do is, if you have an extra set of wheels and tires, or you have a friend who has a set that will fit your car, swap them onto your car. They can be anything - winter tires, track tires, whatever - as long as they are known to be in balance. That will narrow down the cause to the wheels and tires (if it doesn't vibrate with other set of wheels and tires), or the suspension (if it still vibrates with other wheels and tires).

ive had plenty of problems where i get terrible vibration from rotors and pads without braking so i wouldve recommended checking rotors and pads. they are constantly intact with eachother and you WILL get vibration from warped and grooved rotors and/or pads

This is just not true. The pads and rotors may be in light contact with each other - i.e. enough to cause occasional squealing - but they don't exert enough force on each other enough to cause vibrations unless you are stepping on the brakes.
well yes i know but i mean when u get to the point like he said, no pad left, your pretty much grinding all the time, which from the sounds of it, hasnt seen brakes for that long, who knows about the slides and the caliper bracket. of course they are not exerting much pressure but when your considering a warp they are going to be touching more in some places than others its gona give u a vibration.
im not saying THAT Is his problem but its always something you want to look at, front end vibrations can be alot of things but brakes are an easy elimination if you just take the time to look
