My car doesn't start when Parked

Hi,

My car sometimes doesn't start when it's parked on "P". I have to put it on "N" and turn it on. it happened twice last month.
What could it be?

If the key turns but you don't get a crank fron the starter, then it could be the ignition relay in the steering column... I would get that looked at.

Hi,

There's no ignition at all. the car is silent like it's dead

Sounds like the gear selector itself or the neutral safety switch (allows car to be started in P or N only). Neutral safety switch should be on the outside of the tranny.
