Default overheating problems (searched)

Hey guys i have a h22a1 swap in my 94 integra. For some reason when its really hot out or i drive my car pretty hard it wants to over heat. If i turn my heat on its fine and stays at normal running temp. also if it starts to over heat i can stop, shut my car off let the fan run for 60 seconds, start it again and its back to normal temp. It hasnt boiled over once so idk what to look for. The fan is kicking on and off like its supposed to so that would make me believe its not the thermostat. Im also running some random half core that i have no idea what it is. any suggestions on what to look for

Leaks, air bubbles in the cooling system. Make sure you have enough anti freeze

The overflow shouldnt affect it. The only way it could affect it is because its mounted too low.

well i wanna point out that the integra was designed for a full size rad, thats the reason they came with it, so when you go to a half size rad you have to accommodate that loss of overall length with the width of the half size rad, and airflow. So when making that switch you need a fan that flows higher cfm, and a half rad that has enough volume of coolant to at least match the old system.

I would say get a Spal 13" fan, this has been covered several times and if you did in fact search you would have seen almost all issues like this have been cured with a high CFM fan.

Spal 13" fan on Ebay is $130 shipped and worth every penny of it!

so your saying a teg was designed for a full rad. yes I know it does come with one, but if someone can put a gsr motor in a civic and use a half rad and it doesnt overheat then why would it matter if you put a half in a teg? and when I say half rad I mean like stock 99-00 si or a eg single slammer rad they dont have any problems.

yea thats what i thought^^ all my friends have swapped hatch's and they all run aluminum half cores and there **** is fine. It hasnt overheated all week, its only done it 4 time since ive had the motor in the car. and ive put about 1500 miles on it. Seems to only wanna do it when i run it on the highway or run it hard through town when its hot. So your saying a fan will cure this?? The fan i have already pulls pretty damn hard

WELL BEING A 2.2L MAYBE IT MIGHT BE WISE IDK MAN IF IT WAS A GSR THEN NO BUT HAVING A BIG BLOCK WITH A SMALL BLOCK RAD MIGHT BE A BAD IDEA

Replace your rad with with a full-size double or triple core, problem solved.

You will also have to relocate the over flow back to the stock location, [andput up with the uglyness of it]. 94

Look for pin-size holes in rad or wet spots inside engine bay. I would highly recommend against a mishimoto rad. I have had 2 replaced (fans rub and create holes in the aluminum). They do have great customer service and lifetime replacement but I've been told by numerous shops that they are barely better than crap. They said either get Ron Davis or stock rad. I would recommend anything stock full size since you need the extra surface area for air to catch the fins. I went from a half-size dual core mishimoto to a full size single core stock gsr radiator (super slim) and water temp NEVER gets over 190 degrees in my turbo 95 Teg with A/C and power steering making over 500hp. One Spal 12" puller and one 10" pusher to make room for my turbo.
