Default Question about Exhaust

so here are my questions:
1) dose all mufflers that u can buy comes connected with the B pipe?

that black pipe that connects to the muffler at the end is the B pipe if i'm not mistaken...

2) what is a front pipe and down pipe?

1. the muffler with piping is axle back - thats how most companies sell them, unless its custom/racing - it will bolt right up to b-pipe section of exhaust

2. maybe this could help somewhat..

if you got helms - it has even better pictures

"Front pipe" might be the A pipe, often being the 2-1 section of a 4-2-1 header which connects to the cat or the testpipe or downpipe for a turbo motor.

i thought the normal set up should be header-> a-pipe-> cat -> b-pipe-> muffler
but in the site u gave me it shows header -> cat-> a-pipe-> b-pipe-> muffler
so which is right?

oh and dose that extra round fatter pipe connected in the middle between the a-pipe and b-pipe belong to the a-pipe or the b-pipe? and whats it called

ahh i see so [2-1 part of header] = [a-pipe] = [down pipe]
but what is the fatter section in the middle of the b-pipe called (i'm not talking about the cat)?

what is a resonator for?
and can b-pipe be unassembled down to pieces or is the b-pipe one HUGE piece that have the resonator in the middle?

and what are the benefits of getting the muffler with the b-pipe instead of just getting the muffler? cuz i see all these manufactures selling the muffler with the b-pipe.

Edit: oh and why are most headers welded along with the a-pipe? why do they even call the 2-1 part the a-pipe instead of just calling it header (cuz actually its all just 1 piece) ?

a resonator is just another muffler - to kill, improve the sound..

theres another one at the end of b-pipe - a small one.. again, it helps improve the sound of your exhaust

most aftermarket exhaust come with these, they shouldn't affect the performance of the car.

as far as headers go, well.. only advantage to 2 pieces is easier install.. couple companies make replacement downpipe for type r - most people just get entire header replaced

low growl i'd go with any jdm with 2.5" piping. my kakimoto is definately not high pitched like my 5zigen was.
-on a side note, it's good to see a "helpful" post rather than just flaming the guy

mine has a universal muffler, sounds real nice and deep after I removed the cat (soon to be replaced though with Apexi or Spoon N1) , friend has custom DTM muffler, sounds really nice too... and another has Spoon N1 with Spoon headers, nice and LOOOOOUUUUD!!!
